Gaito

Affiliation and General

Gaito is the leader of the sea monsters (Dark Lovers) who is bent on taking over the marine world, but is secretly ruled by Sara. He is also the older twin brother of Kaito. He is also member of Panthalassa Tribe, granting him various powers. His two main goals were to find his twin brother, Kaito, and to capture all seven of the Mermaid Princesses. He needed Kaito because he thought that once the two were together, their powers combined were strong enough to take over the world, not knowing that it was strong enough to destroy the world instead. He needed all seven Mermaid Princesses to revive Aqua Regina, who he thought he could use to assist him in taking over the world.

History

Like Kaito, Gaito is part of the Panthalassa race and was one of the descendants who was given a cursed fate, Gaito possessing the power of darkness. Because Aqua Regina lacked the power to break the curse, she had to separate them, causing Gaito to become very lonely. He lived at the very bottom of the sea and was only accompanied by his sea creatures, whom later became the Dark Lovers with his dark powers. His main goal in the entire first season is to collect all of the seven countries princesses to call forth Aqua Regina. He then will use her power to control all the oceans

Personality

Gaito can be rather impatient when his servants constantly fail him, but he always has a soft side whenever he is with Sara. and can become jealous when it seems like Sara is thinking of someone else other than him and will do whatever it takes to win her heart back. However, when he is betrayed, he can become even more cruel and sadistic.

Appearance

His age in the manga is 20 years old, although he does appear to be older than that (around 25-30). Gaito has spikey grey hair and pink eyes. He wears lightning earrings with a loose attached black robe. And also, black pants and pointy shoes. He has a dark red necklace and is usually seen holding a rose, wine, or his staff. He also appears to have no shirt and possibly leather trousers and a pair of black shoes

Company

The Dark Lovers who work for him and are in love with him. They're all women who he has wrapped around his finger. The names of the Dark Lovers are Maria - The most energetic of the group. Her signature ability is creating and manipulating ice and snow. She tends to use an attack called "Lovers Ice Darts," which is depicted as sending countless chunks of sharpened ice towards her foes. Yuri - The youngest-looking and most childish of the group. Her signature ability is to control people, especially with the use of her French horn and piano. In the seas, Yuri can summon blue whirlpool-like spikes that stretch and can capture/immobilize her enemies. Although Yuri is loyal to Gaito, his continued mistreatment of her as a child later led her to a star-crossed relationship with Hippo, i.e. his human form. Izuru - The most mature of the group. Her signature ability is creating dragons made from water. She also has the power to control waves and marine beasts. Eriru - The most talkative of the group. She has a silly demeanor and tends to spin around a lot to change her personality and facial expressions. Her signature ability is creating red-black, wavy, energy arrows as an attack. She can also manipulate solid objects with her shadow-like powers and create whirlwinds with her spinning. Further more, she can control fish to use as spies to find the mermaids.
