Ada Wong (エイダ・ウォン, Eida Won?) is a character belonging to the Resident Evil saga and who first appeared in Resident Evil 2. She is a mysterious American spy agent with oriental features.

Ada Wong's past life prior to 1998 is a complete mystery. Both her ethnic origin and current nationality are completely unknown, although due to her features she can be identified as "Asian." Her only reliable biographical information is her year of birth (1974). Even her name, Ada Wong, is unknown if it is real. In 1998, Ada was a corporate spy working for an unidentified competitor of the Umbrella Corporation, which intended to acquire from Umbrella all kinds of bio-organic weapons and a sample of the G-virus developed by William Birkin. Ada was sent, as one of her first known missions, to Arklay Labs as an infiltrator to hide in the Spencer mansion. During her short stay there, Ada was romantically involved with the new chief researcher, John Clemens, as a means to steal the company's secrets. John was very serious about his relationship with Ada, so much so that her name was the password to his computer. During the T-Virus outbreak caused by a resurrected James Marcus, a BOW attack occurred and John was killed in the attack. Before dying, the chief researcher wrote a message to Ada in which he asked her to obtain evidence of Umbrella's crimes and bring the corporation to justice. Ada never received such a message because she was not in Raccoon City at the time. At some unknown point, Ada worked for Derek C. Simmons and he fell madly in love with her, soon turning into an obsession after she rejected him. Ada eventually stopped working with Simmons because he had decided to destroy Raccoon City by infecting it with the T-Virus. Later, Simmons' obsession with Ada would reach such an extent that it would force the scientist Carla Radames, who admired Simmons, to volunteer to become Ada's clone. Some time later, Ada Wong was sent to Raccoon City on another mission.

Some time later, Ada Wong was sent to Raccoon City on another mission from her employers. Like Umbrella agent HUNK, her mission was to obtain a sample of the G-Virus from William Birkin's laboratory. Upon arrival, Ada headed to the Raccoon Police Department to meet with Ben Bertolucci, who claimed to have vital information about the Umbrella Corporation. During her search of the remains of the department, Ada encountered a surviving rookie cop, Leon S. Kennedy. Ada quickly assumed the identity of a normal citizen and asked him for help finding John Clemens, whom she claimed to be her boyfriend. With Leon's help, they were able to locate Ben, who had locked himself in a cell for his own safety, safe from the zombies. Ben didn't deliver as promised, but did reveal that they could escape through the sewers. The pair reached a closed shaft in the sewers, where Leon pushed the woman out so she could escape. Upon exiting the shaft, Ada encountered young Sherry Birkin, the daughter of their target, who fled upon seeing her. After reuniting, Ada and Leon worked together to escape the sewers, where they encountered Birkin's wife, Annette, an Umbrella scientist. Ada decided to fight Annette, only for Leon to be shot by her as he attempted to kill the Asian spy. Ada then pursued Annette and interrogated her about the G-Virus and the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City. Annette informed them of this and that John Clemens had been killed in the BOW attack. After the ensuing fight, Ada and Leon briefly separated, reuniting while Leon was still nursing a gunshot wound. She healed the agent's wounds and later participated in the battle against William Birkin. According to official canon, she was wounded (apparently fatally) while saving Leon, after he was cornered by the T-103 Tyrant. Ada fell

Ada had been presumed dead after the events of Raccoon City six years earlier, but the truth about her fate turned out to be somewhat different. Against all odds, she survived and was helped by Albert Wesker, who remained in the shadows throughout the incident, to escape the city before its destruction. In exchange for this help, she agreed to continue working for his organization and quickly became their top agent. However, her actions are merely a cover. Now, as part of an ambitious plan and seeing that Jack Krauser may fail in his mission, she must enter Osmund Saddler's domain and snatch the samples of the Las Plagas parasite, enlisting the help of Saddler's best scientist, Luis Sera. Although what she doesn't count on is the reappearance of an old acquaintance, Leon S. Kennedy, who is now an international agent trained for extreme missions (in this case, saving President Ashley Graham's daughter) and who, coincidentally, is also a former partner of Jack Krauser. She is also the protagonist of Assignment Ada where her mission is to get five samples from the island for Wesker. And finally, she acts as a mercenary in the minigame The Mercenaries. This is the moment she's been waiting for 6 years since what happened in Raccoon City: turning her back on Wesker and freeing herself (at least for now) from his evil clutches. In RE4, Ada still has feelings for Leon since the accident in Raccoon City and, although she is mentally prepared to fulfill her mission, she interferes (even with Krauser) so that Leon doesn't get hurt. At the end of the game, she helps Leon defeat Saddler (like in Resident Evil 2), giving him a special red rocket launcher to defeat him and escaping the island by giving him the keys to a jet ski. Just as Leon says when Ashley asks him about the woman in red and he answers that she is like a part of him that he can't let go.

Leon Scott Kennedy makes his first appearance as one of the protagonists in Resident Evil 2. Leon is a rookie police officer, but an expert in the art of combat, recently hired by the Raccoon Police Department (RPD). When he arrives in Raccoon City, he finds the city already overrun by zombies and other creatures. He teams up with Claire Redfield, and together they attempt to escape the city alive. He has a relationship with Ada Wong, a woman who claimed to be searching for her missing boyfriend (John). His attempt to find an escape route leads him to an underground Umbrella laboratory, where he faces several of Umbrella's mutant creatures. In one of the epilogues of Resident Evil 3, it is revealed that Leon joins a United States government agency. In Resident Evil: Survivor, the game's protagonist, Ark Thompson, travels to Sheena Island at Leon's request. In Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, Claire contacts Leon while trapped on Rockfort Island, and Leon reveals Claire's whereabouts to his brother, Chris Redfield. Leon also appears in Resident Evil: Gaiden, but with a rather overwhelming and confusing ending (however, this game has no impact on the rest; it is not canon). Leon returns as the protagonist of Resident Evil 4, where he has become a special agent for the United States Government. Thanks to his expertise in combat, he is assigned to rescue the daughter of the newly elected president, Ashley Graham's father, who is kidnapped and taken somewhere in Europe. Her kidnappers turn out to be part of a cult known as Los Iluminados, which has taken control of the local population with parasitic creatures known as Las Plagas. Once again, Leon teams up with Ada Wong, working for Albert Wesker and Luis Sera, a former researcher for Osmund Saddler, the cult's leader.
