Gallifrey is a planet closed off from central space routes at the request of the Gallifreyan Space Traffic Control as they passed through their system. The planet is surrounded by an impenetrable force field called the "transductive barrier." This prevents anyone outside (with hostile or any other intentions) from approaching the planet and allows the Time Lords to maintain their status of absolute neutrality. It also allows them to observe the actions of the rest of the universe without actually getting involved. The barrier was breached as a result of sabotage during one incident with the Sontarans ("Temporal Invasion", 1978). "Gallifrey" is also the name of the planet's capital, the Citadel, which houses the Time Lords' Capitol. The Capitol is also known as the Panopticon, under which the Eye of Harmony is kept. The Eye of Harmony is the name given by the Time Lords to an artifact created from a black hole. It provides virtually all the energy to their home planet, Gallifrey, as well as the power needed for time travel (The Three Doctors, 1973). All the time machines of the Lords - the TARDIS - draw their power from it (TV movie "Doctor Who"). Also located in the Capitol is the Matrix, a vast extradimensional computer network that acts as a repository for all Time Lord knowledge and the memories of dead Lords (Merciless Assassin, 1976). Outside the city is a junkyard where the "outside" Time Lords, who have fallen out of the rest of society, live in low-tech communities. The scum of Gallifrey includes the Dead Zone, an area used by the original Overlords as a gladiator arena, where various species of creatures were abducted from each other's respective time zones (except the Daleks and Cybermen, on the grounds that they were too dangerous to be "used"). . In the Dead Zone stands the tomb of Rassilon, the founder of the Time Lords.

Physiology is true

The race duplicates some organs. They have two more ribs than humans. What people have only in one (two) copies, they have in two (or even sometimes in four). Apart from two additional ribs, the Gallifreyan skeleton is almost identical to that of a human. But they only have one liver. Their core body temperature is approximately 15-16 degrees Celsius, although their skin temperature is only slightly lower than human normal. Adult Gallifreyans can tolerate extreme temperatures, both below and above freezing. They can remain conscious at temperatures of −270 °C in space for about six minutes and endure 200-degree heat for about three minutes. They have more than one stomach, and despite this, they suffer less from hunger than humans. Their metabolism is close to that of humans and they can eat the same food. Some Gallifreyans can use their stomachs to process human RNA and create a Gallifreyan equivalent. They can also easily go several weeks without food and periodically sit brooding for several days without food or water. They don't get drunk or suffer from hallucinogenic drugs unless they want to, so they can drink ten pints of beer. Gallifreyans do not have prostates. They can control hair growth and location, and can make hair grow faster or stop it growing altogether. Their skin has additional subcutaneous layers, making it resistant to radiation, physical damage, burns and tanning. Gallifreyans can create special barriers around the nose, ears and eyes, preventing substances from entering at the molecular level. This allows them to remain conscious for six minutes and survive up to twenty minutes in space without protection. They can remain conscious under the influence of gravitational forces that can kill a person. They can enter a trance in which breathing and heartbeat are minimal. Twenty minutes in this state equals eight hours of sleep, so they only need about an hour every 2 days

Modern Gallifreyans are born with two hearts and have excellent control over them during regeneration. Each heart usually beats at a rate of 60 times per minute. A double heart rate of 170 beats per minute is considered more or less normal. The speed of each heart can vary, and a Gallifreyan can stop both hearts and fake death for several hours. Gallifreyans' blood pressure is usually 70/70. Their blood is darker than human blood, it is red-orange in color and has many unusual acids. The respiratory pigment does not use hemoglobin, but has some structural characteristics of human hemoglobin. Blood has no type due to its regenerative properties and is a constant genetic stream. Due to its unique nature, it can be transfused into a person without any problems. The recipient (the person to whom the blood is transfused) will feel a great surge of energy, possibly due to the fact that Gallifreyan blood carries oxygen much faster than human blood. Gallifreyans' lungs can absorb every single molecule of oxygen. Gallifreyans require only a quarter of the amount of oxygen a human needs to function properly, and therefore typically take about four breaths per minute. They may hold their breath for several minutes or enter a trance to reduce their need for oxygen and thus hold their breath for several hours. Gallifreyans have a bypass respiratory system and a dual cardiovascular system. When they use the bypass breathing system, it closes off the main airways and makes them highly resistant to many forms of anesthesia, ether, cyanide, asphyxiation, and the squeaky voice from helium. They lose their sense of smell when they depend on the bypass respiratory system. When a Gallifreyan reaches a thousand years of age, his bypass respiratory system becomes less reliable and it is possible that he will not be able to escape its effects. Gallifreyans are also more resistant to mercury poisoning.

Regeneration

Gallifreyans' bodies are filled with self-replicating biogenic molecules (known as the Immortality Virus or Rassilon's Legacy) that continually work to repair and remove damaged and diseased cells. Therefore, signs of aging in Time Lords appear after several hundred years. These biogenic molecules are similar to symbiotic nuclei and give the Gallifreyans a symbiotic, self-repairing cellular structure. Their bodies quickly rid themselves of foreign bodies and heal quite quickly. Many injuries can be healed virtually within a day by immersing yourself in a healing trance. Incredibly severe pain can automatically trigger a healing trance; in other cases, training is needed. A broken leg takes about four days to heal, a non-fatal bullet wound heals in a day (the bullet must first be removed from the body). A light bullet wound (if slightly grazed) heals in a few hours. A bullet hole through the frontal lobe, a broken nose, jaw, hip and collarbone take six months to heal.

Personality

The Master is a classic supervillain archetype. The Master’s constant goal is to control everything and everyone, which is why he chose the name “Master” for himself (English Master - “overlord”). His main character traits are genius, sociopathy, a cynical attitude towards human life and a fantastic conceit along with delusions of grandeur. In Utopia, the Doctor calls the Master in disguise a genius and praises his intelligence before discovering his true identity. Possesses hypnosis caused by a gaze and the phrase “I am the Master, and you will obey me,” telepathy and the ability to regenerate, inherent in all Time Lords. Having exhausted all his regenerations, he tried many times to restore them. Typically, Time Lords can regenerate 12 times, but there are references to the Master having a greater number of regenerations. In the End of Time series, he managed to be revived with an unknown number of new regenerations. In many ways, the Master shows himself to be a “reflection” of the Doctor. The Master and the Doctor were in the same class on Gallifrey. After their first meeting on screen, the Doctor admits that he is "very much looking forward" to meeting the Master again. In The Five Doctors, the Master says that "space without a Doctor should not be thought of." The Third Doctor called the Master his best enemy. When the Master dies in the Tenth Doctor's arms, the Doctor is broken. In The Last Time Lord special, the Doctor tells the Master, "I don't know who I would be without you." In Logopolis, the Doctor says of the Master: “He is a Time Lord. We have a lot of the same thoughts.”
