CatNap was originally said to be docile, gentle, shy, and very impressionable. While creepy and unnerving at first glance, CatNap was actually a rather calming presence who took his job as a Playcare caretaker very seriously, as he always wanted to make sure his friends got the proper rest they needed. He liked to watch them sleep soundly and could easily attend to the children's wants and needs. The Bigger Bodies version of CatNap is fervently dedicated to the Prototype, tirelessly promoting worship and urging others to embrace the concept of "the Hour of Joy." Those who dare to oppose the Prototype, even toy pets, are labeled heretics and face dire consequences. From the moment of its creation, CatNap firmly believes that its ultimate purpose is to serve and obey the enigmatic figure known as 1006, although the true nature of this goal remains a mystery. While exploring Playcare Caravans, CatNap is depicted engaging in fervent prayers at a shrine dedicated to the Prototype. As the chapter draws to its conclusion, the Prototype emerges and CatNap is shown kneeling, seemingly conveying his submission and loyalty to this figure of reverence. His devotion to the prototype is rather an evolved version of the “friendship” between Theodore Grambell and the prototype. Given its unwavering devotion to the Prototype, CatNap shows zero tolerance for non-believers who work against its revered leader. This unwavering loyalty is epitomized by CatNap's treatment of heretics, specifically DogDay after browsing the Playhouse.

Dogday

DogDay is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuts as a minor antagonist in Chapter 3: Deep Sleep. DogDay is the proclaimed leader of the Smiling Critters, who later remained after being transferred as an experiment for the Larger Bodies Initiative. DogDay originally coexisted in harmony with the group Smiling Critters, each with their own Bigger Bodies experiment. After the events that took place during The Hour of Joy, the gang began to drift apart, leaving DogDay as the sole survivor. CatNap then imprisoned DogDay in a hidden cell within the Playhouse, subjecting him to endless torment due to his disobedience to The Prototype. After powering up the Playhouse's backup generator while fending off the Mini Smiley Creatures, the player finds DogDay imprisoned, with several of his limbs missing. (he was in half, bleeding to death) While the player has a one-sided conversation with DogDay

dogday appearance

DogDay is an anthropomorphic canine, characterized by an orange coat that complements his expressive black eyes, floppy ears, and elegant black nose. Its features extend to a sun-yellow outer mouth and belly, while a touch of golden brown adorns its paws, ears, and the left side of its face. Like other smiling critters, DogDay sports a wide, perpetual toothless smile and his inner mouth shrouded in eerie darkness. A distinctive black zipper gracefully runs through its center, displaying a captivating gold sun pendant surrounded by radiant orange sun rays. The Bigger Bodies version of DogDay takes on a monstrous, tattered appearance. Completely bisected at the waist, all that remains of DogDay is a thin, dilapidated torso stained with blood and held together with a tan leather belt that will likely keep the remains of his insides from falling out. He has large black dots that connect both arms to his body and end in two huge human hands and, like CatNap, his black pupils have white irises. Also like CatNap, he possesses large black sockets with no discernible eyes (until possessed by Mini Smiling Critters) and a large open mouth with no appearance of teeth. DogDay's cartoon appearance is more or less the same as his toy, albeit without the zipper line, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black collar.

dogday personality

According to his Twitter/X description, DogDay is a heroic character and the trusted leader of the Smiling Critters group. As shown by his pendant, DogDay has a cheerful demeanor, always looking on the bright side of things and encouraging others in their time of need. Like the other six Smiling Critters, excluding CatNap, DogDay appears to have ancraophobia (fear of wind), although he tries, half-heartedly, to convince the others that the windstorm will pass. As DogDay inhales the red smoke exhaled by CatNap during the final scene of Smiling Critters Cartoon, DogDay exhibits a more unnerving and sinister personality. He shows signs of insanity, addiction, and mania when he inhales CatNap's sleeping gas Poppy, and laughs hysterically with the others until he passes out. The Bigger Bodies Initiative version of DogDay that many fans are familiar with consists of a shallow, monotonous tone, possibly due to his prolonged captivity in the Playtime Co. Factory. Despite his confinement, DogDay has extensive knowledge about CatNap, his motivations and other beings such as the Mini Smiling Critters and their views towards CatNap, as shown in DogDay's monologue. In DogDay's dismembered state, he is unable to move beyond simple movements and turns of his head. He appears to be aware of his situation and prioritizes the Player's situation over his own during his final moments.
