Personality and traits

Like his late namesake, Tavros is a nervous person with a low self-esteem; unlike his eponymous origin, though, much of this is a result of his intense, strict upbringing under Jane. He is gloomy and quite serious despite his young age, having bore witness to his mother's malice as a dictator firsthand, leading him to be paranoid and staid. He is also very strict and orderly to the point of lacking individual personality in the things he does; his room is tidy without a toy out of place. Candy Much of his happiness as a child depended on pleasing Jane. He regards his existence as predictable, and discards his own thoughts in favor of what Jane and Gamzee teach him. Tavros is quite observant, often the first to notice things others miss; but these details are often undermined as "obvious" by his meanspirited friends. HS2 Moreover, while his meticulousness makes him compassionate, he often misses social cues and needs transparency upon approaching a conversation, leading to misunderstandings with more sarcastic characters. HS2 Despite his tendency to be dominated by intense personalities such as Jane or Vrissy, which he inherited from his father and his other Page forebears, Tavros has a deep-seated anger toward his caretakers, beating Gamzee's corpse for nothing but the satisfaction of it; HS2 such a violent streak could ironically have been Gamzee's influence, and Tavros has a noteworthy disposition toward Faygo as well. his mother is very strict whit him his "uncle" gamzee usually touched him in a bad spot when tavros was 7 he is very submissive and says "sorry" for almost everything

Biography

Tavros is introduced sometime after Roxy Lalonde and John Egbert are married, but before Harry Anderson Egbert is born. His birthdate is unknown. His primary caretaker appears to have been Jake, likely due to the extreme and boisterous nature of Jane and Gamzee. It is implied that Tavros rarely interacted with others of his age group while growing up, as Jake remarks that his interactions with Vriska Maryam-Lalonde should be encouraged. He is not mentioned to be present at the alternate Jade's funeral. On Harry Anderson's fifth birthday party, Tavros serves as a doorman to the Crocker household. By this time, he was no longer permitted to see Vrissy based on the political situation, which he displays an impressively depressing understanding of. He regards Vrissy with apprehension as a result of their ill-mannered interactions, and this causes him to fall victim to Harry Anderson's teasings as well, although Dave Strider is quick to defend him. His obsequious personality is further highlighted by his behavior as a servant to his guests (and, by extension, Jane), rather than having responsibilities as a host. He is surprised to be called by anyone other than Jane. Tavros is notably "resigned" from the events occurring around him, even with John manipulating the situation to isolate them in his room together. He seems unfazed by the security system placed in his room, but it is implied he has contemplated running away, and he voices excitement at the thought of escaping with John. Still, with the inevitable confrontation by Jane and the rest, Tavros is petrified in his closet by the violence. Ten years later, during Dave Strider and Jade Harley's wedding, Vrissy texts Harry Anderson and Tavros in separate chatting windows. The three are each aged around fifteen when the war begins. According to Vrissy's accounts with Harry Anderson, Tavros had snuck her into one of Jake's poker sessions at some point. The two are also referenced to have officially been hate-dating

Relationships

Vriska Lalonde-Maryam Tavros and Vrissy are kismeses, but also have a comforting relationship, with Vrissy comforting Tavros after he sees his uncle Gamzee's corpse. Harry Anderson Egbert Though Tavros and Harry are friends, Harry regularly insults him and often takes a long time to respond to Tavros' messages. He does, however, try to make up before Vriska does her thing.[What?] Jane Crocker Though Jane is Tavros's mother, they do not have a strong bond; Jane treats him more like a butler than her own child and keeps him isolated from other children his age, contributing to his reserved behavior. She is oblivious to his feelings, arguing with Jake in front of him and expressing surprise that he would willingly carry around his uncle Gamzee's corpse, who he "loves". She does at least care about him, to the extent of kidnapping Yiffany Longstocking Lalonde Harley in response to his own apparent kidnapping, and showing visible shock when Kanaya threatens his life. Jake English Jake is Tavros's father, and unlike Jane, took care of him as a baby. He cares a lot about his son, believing he should be allowed to interact with other kids his age, and that Jane should quit drinking for Tavros' sake. Near the end of Candy, he finally gets the nerve to run away with Tavros, Candy expressing sadness to John that he ruined the most important relationship in his life. Gamzee Makara Gamzee is like Tavros' uncle. In his early years, he was already shown to be very uncomfortable around his "uncle" Gamzee, expecting him to eventually bad touch him at some point, and was very happy when John said there would be no more uncle Gamzee. Over the years, that discomfort and unease turned into years of pent up rage, and when he found Gamzee's dead body, he kicked it as hard as he could and screamed loud enough for both Vriskas to comment on it. John Egbert Vrissy notes that Tavros feels he needs to defend John “8ecause [he] feel[s] weird a8out him trying to kidnap you that one time.”
