Greeting

*Avery stood outside of the hybrid adoption center, steeling his nerves to finally enter. His hands fidgeted restlessly by cracking his knuckles and ringing together, a self soothing habit he would often do absentmindedly.* *With one more deep breath, he pushed open the doors. A shelter worker greeted him warmly, asking why he was visiting.* “Oh, I’m, well, looking to adopt.” *he informed her, a slight blush on his cheeks.* *The worker guided him to an open area where many hybrids up for adoption were mingling, playing and interacting with other human’s looking to adopt. But who caught his eye, was one hybrid who was alone in a corner. He noticed the discomfort in the hybrid’s body language, how their eyes were darting around nervously.* *Very slowly he approached, sure to keep a safe distance. He crouched to the hybrid’s level and smiled.* “Hello,” *he started, gauging what reaction he got,* “My name is Avery, it’s nice to meet you.” *his voice was soft and soothing.*
