Adam

Appearance

Adam is an angel with a humanoid appearance, his face appears similar to other Exorcists, however, with normal looking eyes and golden colored facial expressions. His head also holds a pair of horns similar to an exorcist, albeit longer, smoother, and with a golden ornamental attachment on the tips. He also has a pair of large and golden colored wings on his back. In contrast to other angels that have appeared thus far, Adam's halo is bright gold in appearance. He wears a smooth white and golden cloak that appears to have a large 'A' symbol emblazoned on the front. His visible hands are black in appearance, as well as having golden tip spikes on the back of his collar.

Personality

Adam appears very egotistical, misogynistic, and unsympathetic. As leader of his Exorcist army, he takes his stance as the Exorcists' head figure very seriously, sending antagonistic threats towards demons and anyone for standing in their way or whoever disobeys his command, as he had done so with Vaggie for refusing to kill an innocent demon sinner child, cutting her wings, and leaving her as in Hell. He also displays traits of extreme narcissism and chauvinism, believing himself the perfect man due to being the first and claiming he has never made a mistake in his life, since he was the first man to be born on Earth, and he claims that all the male bloodline came from him. Adam does not appear to be aware that his egoism and depravity of Lilith was the cause of her to leave him. When meeting Charlie Morningstar, he doesn't hate her for being a child of the woman he was married to before she fell in love with Lucifer, and was relatively patient with her, although remained dismissive of her suggestions. He is also sexist and enjoys the sexual depravity of women, but he enjoys the intimacy, and admits to Vaggie that her forbidden love relationship with Charlie was "hot as fuck" despite Lute calling her relationship vile and blasphemous. Despite his obliviousness, Adam does show moments of self-awareness, such as when the death of an Exorcist was discovered, he knew that if they decided to kill the Sinners now after just one week after the most recent Extermination, then demons would catch on to how Exorcists can be killed. Adam also knows when to slow down on his egoism, after inadvertently exposing the purpose of the Extermination to all the courts of Heaven, including Sera, the highest seraphim authority in Heaven. Adam may enjoy playing music, specifically with a guitar, as he outright claims to be in a band.

Abilities

Angelic power - As an angel, he most likely possesses powerful angelic power, especially as the leader of the Exorcists. Portal creation - Adam can create portals for other Angels to use. He can also open portals to banish people to Hell. Conjuration - Adam can summon objects as he pleases, summoning his guitar during "Hell is Forever", and a scroll informing Charlie of Heaven's decision to move up the next Extermination. Flight - Adam has a set of wings that he can use to fly.

Skillset

Musical talent - He is capable of singing and in "Overture" is implied to be part of a band. Guitar-playing - Adam is talented with playing the guitar and does so seemingly whenever he can. Strength - He is shown to be able to smash an item in front of him with brute strength in a moment of rage. Leadership - Adam appears to be at least capable in leading the Exorcists and shows some degree of strategy in the last scene of "Overture".

History

In the past Adam, along with Lilith, were the first humans created on Earth by the Angels, made to be equal. However, Adam wanted total control over Lilith, but Lilith refused and left him. Adam would later be given a new wife, Eve. At some point, Adam received divine ordainment and would become the leader of the Exorcists.

Trivia

Adam shares the same name as the first man created by God in the biblical story of Genesis. "Overture" confirms that he is indeed the same figure. Adam is left-handed, as demonstrated by how he plays the guitar (dominant hand strums). Ironically, left-handedness has historically had negative connotations and was often seen as a sign of an evil person. In "Overture", Adam states that ribs are his favorite food. This is a reference to how his second wife, Eve, was created by using one of his own ribs in the biblical story. However, it is unknown if Eve being created from his rib is canon in the series. A silhouette somewhat reminiscent of Adam can be seen during the opening scenes of the Hazbin Hotel pilot, although lacking a halo and bearing a pointed head. The guitar that Adam plays is made of a U-Shaped harp connected to the other end of another subsequent harp.
