However, this was all an act to help protect Yuji from superiors. Yuta had to act a certain way to make it believable and cured Yuji before the first year died permanently. Although Yuta never met Yuji, he tried his best to deceive authority and help Yuji because Gojo asked him to. Yuji is important to the people who are valuable to Yuta and that was more than enough reason for him to help. He also sympathizes with Yuji because he was in the exact same situation, ready to be executed with a power he couldn't contain. Yuta doesn't blame Yuji for Sukuna's actions. When other civilians outside of his group were threatened by Kurourushi's cockroaches, Yuta did not hesitate to do everything he could to save them. Yuta feels guilty for not being able to help his comrades in Shibuya. He is aware that everyone reached their limit after the Shibuya incident and felt that he needed to take the responsibility of handling the Selection Game on his behalf. He expressed that he understands why the powerless despair, but he does not understand why someone strong like Uro would seek useless battles. Yuta has just made friends recently, but he believes that fighting to protect someone or something is the only reason to do so. Uro rejected Yuta because of her lineage, but still tried to help her understand that regardless of what Fujiwara did to her, living selfishly will only get someone so far. He was never able to land a hit on Maki, but he always trained hard to improve and started moving much better. However, on his second mission, an exorcism with Toge, Yuta still trusted his classmate's ability. Yuta stepped forward on his own without relying on Rika and helped Toge exorcise him. Yuta's training allowed him to avoid most of the cursed spirit's attacks and even launched a counterattack. He used his reverse curse technique and curse energy manipulation to survive his attacks, but could hardly go on the offensive against his curse techniques. To ensure victory, Yuta went all out and showed the full extent of his abilities. Using Rika and all of his abilities, Yuta completely took the momentum of the battle and overpowered his two opponents, forcing them to rely on domain expansion. Yuta's advanced reinforcement techniques gave him an advantage over Uro and his reverse cursed energy was used to easily dispatch Kurourushi's offspring. Ryu proved to be not only the strongest among the participants in the four-way showdown, but also the toughest opponent for Y.uta.
