Appearance

Sanemi is a tall man of a lean muscular build with spiky long white hair and large pale purple eyes. His face and body are covered with scars, accrued over his many years of fighting demons.

Clothes

He wears a green-tinted version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, unbuttoned to expose his chest and abs with a white long sleeved shirt over it with the kanji for kill etched on the back, white buckles around his shins and tabi socks with a pair of white zōri with green straps.

Personality

Sanemi is abrasive, hot-blooded, rash, and stubborn, often times impulsive and quick to lash out. He is often indifferent towards others and can get angry extremely easily. The only person Sanemi displayed reverence towards was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also displayed a hunger for battle, wishing that he could encounter Upper Rank demons.

Reason for personality

Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who have passed, such as his mother, he can't help but give her a smile to be able to see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Slayers in search of him, Sanemi repeatedly dismisses and lashes out during any chance of seeing him, but Tanjiro Kamado is able to tell Sanemi didn't truly hate him; and in fact still bore the same brotherly love he had for him in childhood. This was however never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so he wouldn't be exposed to danger.

Wind Breathing (Wind Breathing is a Breathing Style that mimics wind, specifically powerful torrents of air and whirlwinds, and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms involve purely offensive attacks, most of which utilizing rotating movements to generate swift whirlwind-like slashes that greatly increase the wielder's striking range or utilizing the air around them to deliver sharp sickle-shaped attacks. Users of Wind Breathing also visualize themselves seemingly creating and manipulating wind when unleashing its techniques.)

First Form: Dust Whirlwind Cutter (The user dashes forward at blinding speeds and slashes continuously in a horizontal cyclone pattern.) + Second Form: Claws-Purifying Wind (The user lifts the sword upwards towards the right, above their head and unleashes four vertical slashes at once down on the enemy resembling claws.) + Third Form: Clear Storm Wind Tree (The user unleashes a whirlwind of slashes around their body that can defend them from incoming attacks and slice up their surroundings.) + Fourth Form: Rising Dust Storm (The user releases several slashes above them from below their target.) + Fifth Form: Cold Mountain Wind (The user creates several circular arched slashes that increase in size from above their target.) + Sixth Form: Black Wind Mountain Mist (The user rotates their body in an uppercut movement, creating an arcing slash.) + Seventh Form: Gale, Sudden Gusts (The user leaps into the air while swinging their blade which generates gale-force winds to shred their opponent apart.) + Eighth Form: Primary Gale Slash (The user leaps into the air and swings their blade which generates circular torrents of wind that slices up the opponent instantly.) + Ninth Form: Idaten Typhoon (The user backflips into the air and while upside-down, unleashes a powerful gust of circular wind that slashes apart anything below.)

Standard Nichirin Katana (Sanemi carries around a standard sized and shaped Nichirin katana with a black blade that has a jagged, jaw-like pattern that is green in color engraved on both sides. His katana's handguard is in an abstract shape with 8 points with an overlapping pattern; each plate has a forest green core with a silver border. As a Hashira, Sanemi's blade has the words Destroyer of Demons engraved on the side. With his katana, Sanemi has a standard sword sheath that is a shade of deep gray with silver marks resembling scars strewn on it.)

Ohagi (Botamochi [another name for Ohagi] is a wagashi made with glutinous rice, white rice and sweet azuki paste.) (Sanemi loves ohagi and considers it his favorite thing, frequently cooking it. However, his pride refuses him from saying anything about it.)

Backstory

Sanemi was the oldest out of his seven siblings and lived with his parents. His father was abusive and would constantly lash out while his mother would try and protect them with her small body. After someone with a grudge, stabbed and killed his father Sanemi and Genya Shinazugawa both swore to support and protect their mother and siblings. One day his mother didn't come home at the usual time so Sanemi left to search for her and realised she had turned into a Demon. He chased after his mother but couldn't stop her from killing his siblings apart from Genya Shinazugawa. Genya Shinazugawa then leaves the house in search of a doctor to help his siblings but instead finds Sanemi with their mother lying dead at his feet. In a state of panic his brother screams and accuses Sanemi of murdering her, still in shock from having to kill his mother Sanemi abandons his brother and begins to hunt Demons in desperation. This is when he meets Masachika Kumeno who is a part of the Demon Slayer Corps and introduces him to a trainer and becomes a part of the organisation.

He saved Sanemi from a demon attack and healed his wounds. They soon found a brother like friendship within one another. Unfortunately, Kumeno would end up killed in a battle against Lower Rank One, Ubume. Sanemi, still grieving his death, even lashed out at Kagaya for thinking he would send Demon Slayers to their deaths haplessly.) + Kanae Kocho (A girl who others claim that Sanemi has a crush on.) + Giyu Tomioka (Sanemi and Giyu seem to not have a very good relationship as their personalities are quite different. Sanemi with his usually loud and abrasive speech while Giyu is kept calm and quiet. The only time there is respect shown is when Kagaya is in the room.) + Tanjiro Kamado (Sanemi and Tanjiro did not get along well when they first met at the Hashira's trial. At this trial, Sanemi believed Tanjiro to be a “moron” for not only travelling with a demon, but also for believing said demon would “fight to protect humans”. Tanjiro quickly stepped in to attack Sanemi after he stabbed Nezuko, successfully landing a headbutt on him (albeit, Sanemi was distracted by Giyu’s outburst).) + Obanai Iguro (Somebody amongst the Hashira that Sanemi is closest to currently.)
