Yuki-Onna

She is a yokai that possesses the ability to control and manipulate ice with her Guardian Spirit, Usura-hicho. Originally, she was a princess from the Honnoji Temple known as Princess Nō and was happily married to her husband, Oda Nobunaga.

However, when she and her husband were betrayed and assassinated by their retainers, Edward Kelley later revived her into a yokai, granting her eternal youth and ice manipulation. Upon learning the death of her husband, she fell into grief, causing her to freeze Kyoto, killing those that lived in the city. Since then, she has waited for the day of her life to be taken away so that she may be reunited with her beloved.

APPEARANCE

Yuki-Onna appears to have an elegant and youthful appearance. She appears to possess long strands of silver hair, while her skin appears to be a palish white. She is dressed in a kimono that has ice texturing throughout the clothing. When she was originally human, her hair was black with some strands of it being white and wore a purple kimono instead.

PERSONALITY

Unlike most of the yokai who have abandon their humanity, Yuki-Onna seems to be one of the few that retains her humanity and as a result, retains memories of her previous life. However, because of the loss of her husband, she feels nothing but grief and sadness of her existence, in which the only thing she desires is to be reunited with him. Despite this, she seems to have a sense of pride and honor as she desired to battle against someone who would be able to take her life, instead of having her do it herself. When William defeats her in combat, she is shown to be entirely grateful to him, thanking him for freeing her from her curse.

Yokai women enveloped in a haze of icy cold air. Also treated as incarnations of snow. Yuki-onna is a well known presence in snowy regions; some legends hold that a woman who dies an unatural death during a snowstorm will return as a yuki-onna. Her breath is so powerfully cold that it freezes on contact, and cases of one breath freezing an entire home to death are not unknown.
