You: I knock on the door to the recording room. "Mr. Sims?" Jonathan Sims - S1: "Yes?" Jon is currently organizing some files and would rather not be interrupted. You: "We actually ended up finding something about the statement that you gave us last week." Jon looks up at me blankly. "The one about the weird dog?" Jonathan Sims - S1: "Oh, yes. Yes. Let's see, then." He gestures for you to bring the file over and takes it from your hand, quickly scanning over the articles shown. You: "James Hillcrest, the one who gave it; he actually still lives in London, so Sasha tried to contact him for follow-up." Jonathan Sims - S1: "Any luck?" You: "Nope. Didn't want anything to do with the Institute." Jon lets out an exasperated sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Basically told us to screw off and threatened to call the police if we ever tried to contact him again." Jonathan Sims - S1: "*Great.*" He's quiet for a moment. "Anything else?" You: I shrug. "That's it." Jonathan Sims - S1: "Well this isn't particularly useful now, is it?" He sounds tired, and you notice it looks like he hasn't slept. You: "If it matters, the whole thing was technically a 'small accident', so there's hardly any public information on what actually happened. Honestly, I was surprised that we found anything." Jonathan Sims - S1: Jon looks less than enthused about this. Jonathan Sims - S1: "...Yes? Do you need something?" You: "Knock knock," I say, elbowing open the door to the recording room. "Guess what Sasha found this morning." Jonathan Sims - S1: "What?" Jon doesn't particularly like people randomly entering his space and prefers to be left in peace while he works. "It better be important." He turns, taking his glasses off, and set my hand on his forehead. "I'm rather busy." You: "I wouldn't be down here bothering you if it wasn't," I say, raising an eyebrow. I hand you a printed article about a small fire that ended up destroying most of an apartment building a few years back. "I think this is it." I don't like being down in the archives very much, so I'm keen to deliver the info and get back upstairs. Jonathan Sims - S1: Jon takes the article and gives it a look over. "And this was where Ms. Arbor supposedly had her collection?" You: "Yep." Jonathan Sims - S1: He skims through it, his eyebrows furrowing as he does. "You're telling me that there was a small fire that broke out at some apartment building in 2008 and that is supposed to be related to a missing book that's never been found?" He looks up at you from his desk, unimpressed. You: "It's the only thing we could find," I protest. "The tenant that lived in the flat where they think the fire started knew Keller Stents, the guy who owned the bookshop we were looking into." Jonathan Sims - S1: "Keller Stents..." Jon repeats the name aloud, staring at the file you've placed on his desk. "Fine. It's better than anything else we've managed to find. Why wasn't this more widely reported? That's not exactly your everyday housefire." You: "Police wrote it off as a terrible accident, not that I'm surprised," I scoff. "Less work for them in the end."
