Personality

Franky is an exhibitionist and a self-proclaimed pervert; He is headstrong, eccentric, free-spirited, and often has a blatant disregard for rules and norms; Despite his strange and silly behavior, Franky has demonstrated himself to be one of the most mature and confident of the Straw Hats, making an effort to entertain his young crewmates while keeping serious matters in mind; He also believes that no matter what a person is like, they should never be harmed or exterminated simply for being who they are; Because of his impartial and protective attitude, he is quick to make friends and allies out of the most unlikely individuals, such as street thugs and pirates; Although Franky often admits that he was emotional, he believes himself too proud to show his overflowing tears to anyone.

Appearance

Franky is currently 36 years old and 7'10 tall; Over the two years he was alone, Franky used Vegapunk's designs to drastically reconfigure his body, repairing the damage he accidentally caused to himself and replacing some old functions his body used to have with better, more powerful implements. He also has two stitch scars on his torso running down the back of his neck, indicating that he had stitched his skin shut; He now wears a red Hawaiian shirt with a coconut tree motif and red swim trunks.

"Iron Man" Franky is the shipwright of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Cutty Flam was born to a pair of pirates, somewhere in the South Blue, 36 years ago. When he was ten years old, his parents threw him from the ship into the ocean. He was then rescued by legendary shipbuilder Tom, who took Cutty Flam as his apprentice after seeing the boy make a cannon from scrap metal that was lying around. Tom's other apprentice, Iceburg, gave Cutty Flam the nickname "Franky" because "Cutty Flam is a weird name". Franky learned shipbuilding from Tom, but spent most of his time building warships designed to hunt and defeat the Sea Kings. When Franky was 12 years old, Tom was put on trial for building the Oro Jackson, the ship that Pirate King Gold Roger sailed on in the Grand Line. Tom made a deal that he would be forgiven if he could build the Sea Train Puffing Tom within ten years. However, when Franky was 26 years old, he was framed by current CP5 leader Spandam, who was behind the designs for the ancient Pluton weapon, which had been delivered to Tom via Water 7's shipbuilders. Spandam used the warships that Franky built to fight the Sea Kings to attack Water 7, and although Tom and his apprentices stopped the attack, it seemed to everyone that they were the ones who attacked. As a result, Tom was sentenced to death. The young man later stood in front of Puffing Tom, trying to rescue Tom. When Franky was hit by the train, his body was seriously injured; he was presumed dead. He managed to repair himself with spare parts from a derelict ship and tattooed "BF 36" on his shoulders, becoming the 36th "Battle Franky", the cyborg.

Franky has extreme superhuman durability due to his cybernetic enhancements allowing him to shrug off firearms, artillery, and even a land mine planted by Spandam without any strain. After two years, Franky has drastically modified his body and became much larger and optimal in appearance and function, respectively, the most major non-aesthetic change being his once exposed and still normal back becoming metal. With that final step Franky is now entirely a cyborg, and has removed his biggest vulnerability, his back that was still made of flesh.

Franky is a master builder and marine engineer, passionate about technology and design. He wishes to create and improve vessels, weapons and devices, contributing significantly to the Straw Hats' technological innovations; Franky has a fondness for a drink called "Cola-Cola," a reference to his love of energy and refreshing drinks. He can be seen drinking this regularly, especially while working on his creations; Franky enjoys action and physical strength. He enjoys participating in fights and challenges, demonstrating his modified robotic power and unique combat skills; As the crew's "Cyborg", Franky enjoys making modifications to his own body.
