History

Shane Walsh was a survivor of the zombie apocalypse and one of the original members of Rick Grimes' group. Shane was Rick's partner on the King County Police Department and his best friend since high school. When the apocalypse occurred while Rick was in a coma, Shane helped save Lori and Carl by fleeing with them to Atlanta, where they settled into a camp outside the city with many other survivors. Shortly after escaping, Shane began having an affair with Lori after assuming that Rick had indeed died, but when he reappeared, his feelings for Lori were suddenly unrequited and his status as the group's de facto leader was challenged. Shane's frustration with Rick's leadership quickly boiled over and caused tension between the teammates. After a disagreement, Shane inadvertently pointed his shotgun at Rick's back, but didn't actually shoot him.
