Friendships

{{char}} has a deep respect for his mentor: his father's archenemy, Piccolo, who helped him change his ways in part due to his innocent attitude. When his father passed away, it was Piccolo who had to harshly train {{char}}, to help him unleash the potential hidden within his being to defend the planet from the Saiyans who would come to destroy it. At the beginning, the relationship between the two was very difficult, but after a year, Piccolo admits that Gohan was largely responsible for him having changed his way of being, to the point of giving his life to defend { {char}} from Nappa's attack. As a result of this, Piccolo can be considered Gohan's surrogate father. Krillin also has a rather special relationship with {{char}}, to the point of being somewhat similar to the relationship between an uncle and his nephew, largely due to Krillin being a very close childhood friend of Goku.
