Description.

Squidward is one of the main characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants series. He is a cephalopod octopus that lives in a Moai under the sea.

Appearance.

Squidward is a blue-green octopus. He is tall compared to other sea creatures around him. He has large, drooping, yellowish eyes with square, red pupils. He also has three lines on his forehead that look like wrinkles. It has six tentacles that are shaped like a human body; two arms and four legs. When it walks, its suckers stick to the ground, making a funny, slimy sound. At the end of its purple tentacles are three purple suckers. Like the other octopuses of his species, Squidward is also bald. Although his skin color appears blue-green at first glance, it is actually a reddish purple with green pupils and black dots on top of his bald head, which was revealed when SpongeBob accidentally sucked up all the ocean water with a vacuum cleaner while he was sitting alone outside his house thoughtfully. Like all octopuses, he has a rather large head with a mouth that sticks out at the corners of his face when he is always in a bad mood, and a large, round nose that hangs down from his face. The only clothing he wears is a short-sleeved shirt with an orange hue, just like a sweater exactly the same when it is snowing, only with longer sleeves. Squidward is completely convinced that he is highly handsome and beautiful, such as when he danced on stage during Pearl's birthday claiming to be more handsome than The Boys Who Cry, a band that Pearl loves. During his dance moments when he goes out to exercise, he can be seen with a pink headband, headphones and a tight black swimsuit, Squidward's dances are strange and abstract, which is why almost no one understands him, possibly due to his very irregular sense of humor. When he rides his bike he usually wears protectors with a black helmet on his head.

Personality.

Squidward has a sarcastic and nasal voice, sometimes he may even try to sound soft and seductive. He is usually always in a bad mood. He has a pessimistic character and is quite bitter, behaving in despicable and sarcastic ways most of the time. Most of his comments tend to be negative and sarcastic. He tends to treat customers badly by throwing trays of food on the table and complaining when they take too long to order. Most of his comments tend to try to hurt SpongeBob and Patrick, which always ends badly, even they consider him as one of their best friends, without noticing that Squidward hates them a lot. Squidward is shown to be a very cultured and obsessed cephalopod who takes any opportunity to show off his talent. Squidward sees himself as a really talented octopus with enormous potential, who dreams of shining in all sides of the underwater world and being highly famous and recognized, although the other inhabitants see him as a talentless boy and sometimes even innocently surpassed by SpongeBob, who in the eyes of the other inhabitants is someone with real talent. Squidward usually has a rather narcissistic and egocentric sense of humor, leading him to think that everyone is stupid except him for not knowing how to appreciate an art that only he himself understands. He dreams of succeeding as a musician, as he loves to play the clarinet, despite the fact that he plays it really badly and out of tune, causing unbearable pain to the other inhabitants of Bikini Bottom and playing it well on some very rare occasions. He also dreams of being an excellent dancer and a great painter, so he has abstract sculptures of himself all over his home and even a room dedicated just to that.

Personality. (2)

He is Bob's only coworker at the Krusty Krab, the most famous fast food restaurant in Bikini Bottom, where he works as a cashier providing poor service to customers, such as throwing trays on tables or mocking and complaining about customers for eating those "Radioactive Grease Balls" there, or because they take so long to decide what food they want to order, especially with Patrick. His greatest hobby in his free time is playing the clarinet, even though he himself does not recognize that it is out of tune, causing a horrible and detestable sensation to the other inhabitants, but on one occasion loved by the jellyfish. Squidward also usually sunbathes outside his house on his days off as a way to relax, he also enjoys planting seafood such as carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, seaweed and lettuce. Some of his crops even tend to do very well, but are sometimes innocently ruined by SpongeBob and Patrick, although no one knows how he can water plants underwater. Squidward also has a bicycle, in SpongeBob the Movie, you can see him riding the bike lying down since it is quite wide, passing under cars, while in the old episodes of the series, it looks more like a common bicycle with which he usually goes out for a ride with a small protective helmet, it also has a small trumpet as a horn and tires similar to the knobs of a fan, you can see how he passes next to the cars that in Bikini Bottom are boats. On some occasions when he goes out for a walk or to look for something he uses the bicycle, although curiously when he goes to work at the Krusty Krab he walks with SpongeBob despite not being able to stand him.

Personality. (3)

Squidward is a negative contrast to SpongeBob's cheerful and charismatic personality. He is grumpy and very selfish and cannot bear to apologize to anyone, much less admit his mistakes. Squidward considers himself very sophisticated and upper class, and looks down on most of the people around him and puts himself above others. Squidward plays pranks on himself that aren't even funny to other people. Squidward usually finds boring and trivial things in everything. On some occasions it is shown that Squidward has a wilder and even unhinged side. One of the examples was when he wanted to be the employee of the month just to ruin SpongeBob's whole streak, acting along with him, in crazy and exaggerated ways just to impress Mr. Krabs, although the best example of this is in Squidville; Squidward goes to live in a city with other people who are exactly the same as him in personality and appearance. Although due to the lifestyle that Squidward led, he realizes that he cannot cope with such a boring and repetitive lifestyle since all the octopuses that lived there were exactly the same as him, and is shown at the end flying in a reef alert, while laughing madly. Also when he got his day off he acted unstable and a little crazy and worried about the fact that Bob took care of the restaurant. Although Squidward has a boring and indifferent personality overall, he cannot keep up constantly and becomes hysterical every time, much to SpongeBob's confusion. People often make jokes about the size of his nose. Squidward's attitude is one of shamelessness.

Personality. (4)

Although it may not seem like it at first glance, Squidward can be too unstable and crazy, this is shown when SpongeBob tells him that he loves Krabby Patties, and Squidward tells him that he doesn't like them because he's never tried one, SpongeBob does everything possible to get Squidward to try it and only takes a very light bite, a particle, Bob leaves sad because Squidward told him that he didn't like it at all, crushing the Krabby Patty with sand, and as soon as he leaves SpongeBob desperately takes the Krabby Patty out of the sand and then says; "It's still alive..." and then he eats it desperately, from that moment on he got a strange obsession with said food and he didn't want SpongeBob to know it, although in the end, SpongeBob goes to the Krusty Krab at midnight and is seen hiding a Krabby Patty in his back and looks at him mockingly, Squidward not being able to stand the density any longer madly confesses that he loves Krabby Patties, getting into the vault eating many, until it reached his thighs and exploded and was hospitalized when he ignored SpongeBob's warnings not to eat too many, this implied how crazy Squidward can get sometimes. Also when Bob helped him have a happy day, building many clones of himself, to which Squidward destroyed them in savage ways. Squidward can often act in elegant and kind ways when it comes to someone convenient for him, such as when he asked SpongeBob for help in dating Squidward, or when he tried to impress some celebrity that his art is great, or when he mistook Patrick for a beautiful girl named Patricia. Squidward shows a huge level of intelligence at times, and great common sense, but sometimes he can't even help but fall for some of SpongeBob's nonsense, like the imaginary box, Mr. Robot, the snowballs, and the employee of the month.

Skills and Talents.

• Squidward can play his clarinet. • Can do strange and somewhat abstract dances. • When specifically hit by a door, his face deforms, becoming extremely handsome. • Squidward can kick hard with his tentacles. He also knows a lot about Karate and knows how to defend himself perfectly, since like with Bob, he took martial arts classes with Sandy. • Squidward spills ink when he is nervous. Although this ability was presented twice. • You can make art sculptures of yourself.

Biography.

Squidward lives in an underwater moai, at 124 Concha Street in Bikini Bottom. Just to the right lives SpongeBob in a pineapple under the sea, and to his left lives Patrick on a reddish rock. Squidward shows little of his past as an egocentric person, who always tried to shine and outdo others since high school, especially against his rival Squidward who showed himself to be more handsome and talented than him. Squidward is shown to be totally different from the other octopuses of his species, as they usually have exactly the same appearance, and are bitter, grumpy and self-centered by nature, since all, or the vast majority of his species, live in Squidville, where they stay away from the population. When Squidward's house was destroyed by Bob and Patrick, he decides to visit the place for the first time to try to have a better lifestyle which he enjoyed very much, but having such a boring and repetitive lifestyle he decides to leave the place in crazy ways, which implies that Squidward is very different from the other octopuses because of his personality, and that Bikini Bottom was always his home. Despite the poor pay of the job along with his pessimistic attitude, he displays positive and even friendly traits on rare occasions, or when he cooperates with SpongeBob for something that benefits them both, such as when the Krusty Krab started selling hot dogs, to the point of saving him from other cooks to come back to work at the Krusty Krab when Mr. Krabs fired him to save 5 cents. Squidward always shows a pessimistic attitude and does not usually try to achieve something to change his life, since he knows that the lives of other octopuses are quite boring, and having Bob and Patrick as neighbors with a stable job at the Krusty Krab is the closest thing to a comfortable, different and happy life.

Tentacles Family.

With everything said before, Squidward is shown that unlike SpongeBob, he always lived in Bikini Bottom, since with the exception of his family, he never lived in Squidville, which made him have a different personality and lifestyle. It is known that his name is: Felipe Tentacles Kings, but on one occasion, when Bob was proving that Mr. Krabs was a robot, SpongeBob tries to prove that Mr. Krabs was a robot by saying that robots do not cry and calls him to tell him that Squidward's father never hugged him, Mr. Krabs walks away without any expression and says; "Squidward has time to hug himself during his break time, now get back to work, Mr. Squidward." and Squidward tells SpongeBob; "SpongeBob! This is ridiculous, and for your information, my father loved me very much." He is identical to his son but wears glasses, since the octopuses of his species have only about two characteristic features. His father used to hit him with the tip of the umbrella in the tentacles when he was little and misbehaved, that is why he has the tips of his tentacles somewhat flat, although it is not known if that reflects the beauty of some octopus. His mother is seen when the Flying Dutchman who scares him transforms into his mother and says "Why haven't you called me?" Her face is identical only with old woman hair. When Bob and Patrick begin to find out if Squidward had a brother, she is really seen baking cookies for her son and also when Bob and Patrick were finding out if he really had a brother, something that Squidward told them so they would search forever where his mother tells Bob and Patrick; "Oh, dear... Squidward never had a brother, one like him was enough." Closing the door on them, although curiously Bob and Patrick thought that Squidward wanted a brother so much that he invented one. All of this ends with the fact that cephalopod octopuses are bitter by nature, since Squidward is an only child.

Employment work.

Squidward works as a cashier at the Krusty Krab, but hates his job, largely because he has to work with SpongeBob. He shows no enthusiasm for it, although he often shares a private joke with his boss, Eugene Krabs, about SpongeBob. Squidward only works for the paycheck, as he is poorly paid due to his stingy boss. Squidward shows a dislike for the Krusty Krab now, but he used to think that the Krusty Krab was more classy and elegant when Jim, the original cook, was still there. There was a lot of talk between him and Jim about leaving and starting a new restaurant at the time, but Squidward acted in somewhat conformist ways. Eventually Jin decides to leave and own one of the best restaurants in Bikini Bottom. The Krusty Krab looks like a crab trap, two large glass doors that you push to enter and exit and a large sign that says "The Krustry Krabs" crossed out in what appears to be a fake clam and right in front is the Chum Bucket, on what is called; "Shell Street." Squidward works there as a cashier, SpongeBob as a fryer, cook and occasionally cleaner (because he's a sponge), and Mr. Krabs as the boss, owner and money counter who is extremely stingy. The Krusty Krab looks simple, but it's quite complex and even has an instruction manual. Mr. Krabs says that it used to be a nursing home, but he bought it and opened the restaurant there. Upon entering we see only tables and stools, in the background we see three doors, one is Mr. Krabs' office, another door leads to the kitchen and the other door is next to the counter which is a can on the wall with a cash register is where Squidward works and the last door is the bathrooms.

From the outside you can see that it is made of brown wood and at the entrance there are flags of different countries and it doesn’t have takeout food, only dine-in. Squidward usually says negative things when customers take too long to order like; “Are you planning to order today, sir?” And when a customer asked for mustard and he said there was none, who asked if he could check, to which Squidward shamelessly says; “No.” At the Krusty Krab there is not much variety of food, since they only sell hamburgers that are characterized as Krabby Patties and the prices of each one are above the counter where Squidward works, he is always at the cash register, sitting in a small boat where behind him is SpongeBob at the grill, who passes him the food through a small window. Right next to the kitchen door, is the bathroom door.

Work/Employment. (3)

Menu sign: • Krabby Patty. • With double cheese. • With triple cheese. • With double tomato and lettuce. • With triple meat. • With double pickles • With triple meat. • Monsteburguer: Everything from before, together. • Salchiburguer: A crab burger in the shape of a sausage. It is also a secret to know what the secret ingredient of Krabby Patties is, although some customers are convinced that it is simply love that makes them so special and how much SpongeBob loves making them, Squidward also has a small microphone in the cash register as a speaker that he uses in case of emergencies or to say a message throughout the fast food restaurant. As a last detail, the windows look like a lifebuoy balloon around the edges, the tables look like a ship's steering wheel and the chairs look like trunks, basically everything that has to do with being a sailor. The floor is made of greenish wood and there are clear glass windows on the sides, and the work uniform is simply a wide white cap with a crossed-out anchor on the front, and the tip and edge are blue-black, which represents the navy, which is what Mr. Krabs is usually very familiar with because he always says that he was a great sailor. Behind the restaurant there is a dumpster to keep the trash that they store in the restaurant and by the entrance a small postcard of a Krabby Patty. A very minor detail that almost no one notices is that above the kitchen, by the entrance to the restaurant, things that are not used or are spare are stored, such as anchors, tubes, trunks, etc. Krabby Patties are just regular burgers, but they got that nickname because of the business.

Relations.

SpongeBob: Bob is Squidward's closest and most annoying neighbor, although he often can't stand him for his annoying and contagious laugh, deep down he loves him and appreciates him a lot as a friend even though he doesn't want to admit it since Bob is usually somewhat annoying and irritating. He is his coworker and is a yellow sponge with many holes, and as clothes he has a brown suit with a red tie and sticky black shoes, although many things that Bob says are usually absurd he rarely proposes to help them like when the Krusty Krab was selling sausages and when he made a joke too heavy to SpongeBob laughing outright for seeing his friend hitting himself all over the place and the customers leave upset and he apologized to him after hours confessing that he loves hearing his laughter and being with him, until Bob had returned the joke showing that many heard his confession. Another occasion can also be seen when Sandy told SpongeBob about Christmas since sea creatures know nothing about it, when Bob managed to convince everyone that gifts would come everyone was disappointed, Squidward did nothing but make fun of him until Bob gave him a Clarinet that he made himself, Squidward not being able to help but feel bad for his friend pretended to be Santa Claus so that Bob would be happy and tell him; "Of course SpongeBob, but I didn't bring Christmas to Bikini Bottom... It was you..." (One of the most moving moments). Another occasion was when they went to deliver a pizza that took too long and effort to bring them and when they arrived the customer cruelly rejected him because he did not have a drink, Squidward seeing SpongeBob crying roundly got angry and approached the customer where he was at the door of his house says; "I already told you! I'm not going to pay for that pizza!" and Squidward says; "Well, this one invites him to the house!" and hits her in the face, showing that despite not being able to stand it, she would be capable of hitting whoever makes Bob cry.

Relations. (2)

Patrick Star: Patrick is SpongeBob's best friend since school who loves him and supports him a lot, he is too dumb and has a hard time thinking for himself and takes a long time to ask for orders, although Squidward calls them "A couple of fools." He lives under a rock next to Squidward and near SpongeBob, he is a pink starfish and has only light green shorts with marks of some violet flowers. Patrick also innocently bothers Squidward on some occasions and when he closes his eyes you can notice that he has purple skin on his eyes and he is chubby, he can also become too stupid and innocent and has some small dots on his body, especially on his belly. Eugene Krabs: Better known as Mr. Krabs, he is Squidward's boss and owner of the Krusty Krab, who is an overly stingy crab. He is a red, corpulent, very tall crab, with a wrinkled and pointed nose, large pincers and very short and pointed legs. His vertebrae are also visible on the back of his neck. He wears a light blue shirt and slacks with a black belt. He is the boss of Squidward and SpongeBob who has a rivalry with Sheldon J. Plankton since he works in front of him. For many, he is nothing more than simply a selfish boss for Squidward although Squidward himself considers that his life is mediocre wasting it in the Krusty Krab. Sandy Cheeks: Sandy is a land squirrel who lives under a dome at the bottom of the sea, something like a simulator of the earth where she can live as if she were on the surface, although they have not talked much and do not get along very well, they have made friends at times when they have talked and it was she who taught him all the movements she knows of Karate and defense. When entering her home, Squidward, Bob, Patrick or Mr. Krabs must have a helmet with water so as not to drown.

Relations. (3)

Mrs. Puff: Mrs. Puff is a driving instructor who has emotional and mental problems especially having to put up with SpongeBob since although he wants his driver's license he still doesn't know anything about boats and simply has a hard time learning or freezes up during class, on the other hand she was the one who taught Squidward how to drive, who is also considered a good driver. Being a pufferfish she inflates herself when she feels scared or overwhelmed and wears a red skirt with a blue vest and a small blonde hairstyle. It is said that she is a widow, since Mr. Puff was caught and used as a lamp, when Mr. Krabs asks Bob what happened to Mr. Puff, Bob answers with; "She doesn't like to talk about it..." which theorizes that she is a widow. Jim: Jim is one of the original cooks before SpongeBob who knew everything about the Krusty Krab and wanted to start his own business with Squidward, when he didn't notice any enthusiasm in either of them he simply left the restaurant due to the very poor pay it offered, some time later was when SpongeBob arrived as a cook. Flying Dutchman: The Flying Dutchman has rarely had connections with Squidward, other than scaring him once in his home, he is basically the soul of a pirate but green, who once Mr. Krabs exchanged SpongeBob for some miserable people sitting down to which Squidward tells him; "Look Mr. Krabs, you should be ashamed, he defended you and you betrayed him." Which was where Mr. Krabs regretted it and wanted Bob back, until the Dutchman returned him because of how annoying SpongeBob can be.

Relationships. (4)

Calamardia: She is Squidward's possible romantic interest, and like the other octopuses they are quite similar with the most common thing being that they hate fools. Sheldon J. Plankton: Plankton is Mr. Krabs' biggest rival as he dreams of stealing the secret formula, he only has one eye and is usually too competitive and evil, he only became friends with Squidward once and the other time just to find out if he has the secret formula, something he did similar to SpongeBob and has his computer wife Karen. Mr. Krabs keeps the formula rolled up in a bottle inside a safe. There are also few connections to Pearl, Mr. Krabs' whale daughter, and Gary, SpongeBob's pet snail.

Curiosities.

• Squidward appears to be over 28 years old. • He is able to help his friend Bob in problems he has and his rivalry with him can lead him to do crazy things despite not caring at first. • Deep down he is a very good cook. • He has no desire to enter university but he also wants to stop wasting his life at the Krusty Krab. • Even though his name is Squidward, he is an Octopus. • Several times in the Krusty Krab he has tried to dance and show off his talent but the audience rejects him by throwing tomatoes at him, he can also be seen more daring and presumptuous. • Once he placed a crying flower on a grave that said: "Here rests Squidward's dreams and hopes..." • It is not fully known, but he appears to be homophobic. • He has experienced many epic and adventure-like things with SpongeBob and Patrick, although almost all of them are reflected in everyday life, like when they tried to put a window in the Krusty Krab to serve more people on cars or when he went desperately crazy trying to become employee of the month and make SpongeBob look bad. • Squidward has a fountain in the shape of himself spitting water, as well as art and decorations that many find in bad taste. • Squidward doesn't accept that sometimes he tends to worry too much about SpongeBob. • Sometimes he sleeps with his clarinet and complains about the noise Bob makes at night when he dances, although he does manage to rest well. • Squidward and SpongeBob's work hours are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Krusty Krab. • Squidward's favorite heat is blue. • Squidward never had a brother.
