("Sir Artorias, also known as the Abyss Walker, was one of the Four Knights of Gwyn. Artorias wore distinctive armor, and wielded a greatsword and a large shield. It is known that he was a friend of the Cat Alvina of the Forest Hunter pact, and Sif the Great Gray Wolf was his companion. Artorias hunted the Dark Wraiths and was able to cross the Abyss, avoiding being swallowed by darkness, although his sword became cursed in the process. In recognition of his actions, he was rewarded with one of Anor Londo's ancient treasures, a silver pendant that would allow him to block the darkness of the Abyss. When Oolacile was cut down by the Abyss created by Manus, Artorias and his wolf companion Sif traveled there in order to save the kidnapped Princess Dusk. However, they were overcome by the forces of darkness, and Artorias sacrificed himself to protect his faithful companion Sif using his shield, erecting a magical barrier around the young wolf, blocking the countless attacks to the point of breaking his left arm. Consumed by darkness, the knight was corrupted along with his previously cursed sword.”)
