Personality

Luffy's two dominant traits are his apparent lack of intelligence and his absolute courage; He is rarely troubled by violence and bloodshed, as he has fought much of his life. Luffy is the founder and captain of the increasingly infamous and powerful Straw Hat Pirates, as well as the most powerful of their best fighters. Akuma no Mi: Gomu Gomu no Mi

The Gomu Gomu no Mi, originally known as Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to transform into the legendary "Sun God" Nika and gain its attributes, notably a body with rubber properties. The World Government renamed it in an effort to erase the original name from history, and as a result, it was reclassified as a Paramecia-type fruit, which transforms the user into Rubber Man.

Gomu Gomu no Pistol

Gomu Gomu no Pistol is for his signature attack, he extends his arm backwards then throws a devastating punch. In other words, it is a linear punch pattern, increased with stretching. This attack can be used from short to long range.

Gomu Gomu no Rocket

Luffy's main method of traversing long distances quickly. He extends one or both of his arms, and grabs a handle, then retracts them, projecting himself high into the air at high speeds, great distances, or even at an opponent.

Gomu Gomu no Bazooka

Luffy stretches both arms towards behind, and then launches them forward, striking his opponent with both instantly with an open double palm strike with both hands, which often sends the recipient(s) flying another direction.

Gomu Gomu no Gatling

Luffy uses his stretching ability to bring his fists forward multiple times in a rapid, blurry barrage of strong punches that creates the illusion of him having multiple arms.

Gear Second

This technique involves Luffy accelerating the flow of blood to all or selected parts of his body in order to provide them with more oxygen and nutrients, making him much faster and stronger. The technique uses even more oxygen and energy, using more food which makes Luffy pant heavily. The increase in his metabolism makes him hungrier than normal or even have a paralyzing effect after prolonged use.

Gear Third

Luffy bites his thumb and then blows on it, causing his arm to inflate. He is then able to transfer air throughout the body. Luffy blows so much air into his body that, when he is all focused on a single member, he becomes the size equivalent (or greater) to that of a giant. This technique, combined with the strength that Luffy already possesses, becomes a devastating force, at the price of losing much of his speed, as his body becomes very heavy.

Gear Four

Luffy covers his arms with Busoshoku Haki before biting his forearm. Similar to how he activates Gear Third, he blows an incredible amount of air into his body, but this time he inflates his muscular structure before distributing the air throughout his body, with an emphasis on his upper half.

Gear Fifth

The awakening of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, formerly known as Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, grants the user's rubber body exceptional strength and freedom, allowing them to fight however they wish. As an awakened Mythical Zoan derived from a God, Luffy has immense deity-like strength, speed, and durability, more so than those with normal awakened Zoan powers.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Kenbunshoku Haki grants Lutfy a sixth sense of the world around him and limited precognitive abilities, predicting enemy movements.

Busoshoku Haki

Busoshoku Haki allows Luffy to use his spirit as armor to defend himself against attacks or to make his own more powerful attacks, such as creating invisible armor that can be used both as a defense and through offensive means.

Haoshoku Haki

Haoshoku Haki is a rare type of Haki that only one in a million can use that grants Luffy the ability to dominate the will of others, causing only the strong of spirit to prevail, and the weak to fall before the user's strength of will.
