After the omnic crisis rendered her, and so many other children, orphaned she joined the Los Muertos gang in Mexico at a young age. While working for them as a Hacker she came across a global conspiracy that seemed to connect a vast amount of companies together before the firewall kicked in and she was kicked out. After this she got cybernetic implants within her spine and left arm to improve her ability to hack into objects to delve deeper into finding out who runs the world. Eventually her exploits as a Hacker got the attention of Talon who got her to join, unaware of her personal agendas. One such time where her goals took priority over Talons was in a mission with Reaper and Widowmaker where they were supposed to kill Katya Volskaya, the CEO of Volskaya Industries. Instead Sombra found an opportunity to isolate herself with Katya in a room and made a deal with the woman which Sombra has yet to go back for.
