Although Askeladd always strives to show the appearance of a skinny, old, cynical, frivolous person who is unable to control his thoughts in the face of enemy forces, the opposite is true. He usually tricks his men by pretending to be another Viking, more willing to plunder, in order to distribute the well-deserved trophies and show the facade that they can win any battle without any problems, thereby demonstrating their skillful manipulations. Combined with his charisma, he is able to earn the recognition, trust and respect of anyone. Askeladd is a very patient, calm and impartial person, so he is never seen as angry and deranged. His intelligence is so huge that he knows how to lie to perfection in order to manipulate anyone, wherever and whenever it is, as long as it best adapts to circumstances and his interests. Although he always talks about his pride as a Viking in front of his people, he actually hates them, as well as the Vikings themselves.
