Callum

Callum is the stepson of King Harrow of Katolis, and one of the three main protagonists of the 2018 animated Netflix series The Dragon Prince. He is one of the two princes of Katolis, who goes on an adventure to get the Dragon Prince to his mother and end the war between eleves, humans, and dragons.

callum's history

Callum was born as the son of Sarai and and an unknown former husband/lover. However, the man who became Callum's father died from non-explained causes, so she married King Harrow and became the half-brother of Ezran. Despite not being his biological son, Harrow tried to treat him like he was and gave him a book so he could write and draw what he wanted. During his childhood, his mother was killed by Avizandum during a mission to retrieve the heart of a magma titan from Xadia so they could stop the famine in the kingdoms of Katolis and Duren. Callum would start to learn several things due to being the prince of Katolis, such as horseback riding, sword fighting. In swordfighting, he was trained by the son of high mage Viren, who would pick up on him by calling him a step-prince to mock him for not being Harrow's biological son out of jealousy due to Soren's relationship with his father being emotionaly abuse in comparison to how Harrow treated Callum as if he was his biological child.One day while Claudia was searching for information about a stone giant that they found in Kpp'Ar's labirint, Callum told Viren's daughter Claudia, whom he secretly has a crush on, that she should express her feelings about her mother leaving her, as it would make her feel better and would make her able to still remember her mother, although Claudia decided to ignore his advice and remember that the stone giant she and her brother found was sad. Despite them not being fully siblings, Callum was very kind towards his step-brother Ezran, and drew things in his sketchbook in case he wanted to read it frim time to time, as he knew Ezran liked to see through his sketchbook and gave him advice on how Callum could make it more intresting.

Callum has a dry sense of humor, where he makes jokes or with his friends when they are not in danger. Callum also wants to learn magic because he was always interested in it, but was never able to be good at anything. Callum also can lash out at others when they do the same or to make people less insecure about themselves, although he mostly does it for good reasons and apologizes when in the former situation. Despite his flaws, Callum is a selfless individual, as he cares about others more than his own. He also refuses to use dark magic, as he knows it's wrong, and only used it once when a dragon was about to get killed by Soren and several human soldiers, and refused it's temptation even when he was very sick and was likely going to die from it. Callum is also very protective of his brother, and would become paranoid when he thought he was in danger when Ezran was planning a birthday party for him. Despite all of this, Callum has a great desire to learn more magic, and Aaravos notes that him using dark magic once had caused him to become tainted by darkness and he says Callum would fall right to his hand. His desire to become more powerful was so big that he didn't destroy the Key of Aaravos, despite him knowing that it could cause bad things to happen. Callum also had some problems accepting Rayla back because of her leaving him, but he came to reconsile with her later on.It's revealed that Callum is deeply regretful for using dark magic, and tried his best to avoid using it. However, Finnegrin made him do it when he told him he planned to kill Rayla out of spite for Callum punching him in front of his crew, since it made Finnegrin look weak.

callum's Primal Magic

Callum is a mage, having first discovered his ability to wield magic through Claudia's Sky Primal Stone. Although he initially lost the ability to perform magic after destroying the Primal Stone, he later formed a connection to the Sky arcanum,[17] allowing him to perform Sky magic without it. This makes him the first human in recorded history to use primal magic without the use of a conduit. Despite not having formed a connection with the Moon arcanum, he is able to cast certain spells by using Moon Opals. He later formed a connection to the Ocean arcanum, making him a master of two Primal Sources at once.After Callum connected to the Sky arcanum, he gained the ability to draw power from the Sky. This magic is at its strongest during a storm or near the Storm Spire, the nexus of the Sky. Callum has grown proficient with the use of Sky magic. He can perform offensive magic such as creating powerful gusts of wind and lightning bolts, and he can even coat his fists in lightning to augment his melee attacks. Other Sky magic uses include more supportive uses like breathing in high altitudes, protection from heated areas with a breeze dome, and growing wings to fly. "Aspiro": A spell that allows a mage to unleash a strong breath of wind in front of them, pushing people or objects backward. Aspiro requires some physical exertion, as the mage needs to generate wind with air from his/her lungs to use the spell. Callum has, on occasion, had to expend all air from his lungs to use the spell, having to catch his breath afterward. With his arm movements, Callum can change the direction of his wind breath, which he used to trap Sol Regem in a stone arch.[18] He also knows to use it in the form of a shield, having used it to defend Ezran from Rex Igneous's breath.

"Fulminis": A spell that allows a mage to generate powerful electricity and unleash devastating bolts of lightning at enemies. Callum is able to temporarily hold this spell in his hand in the form of a ball, and can cast it without needing to say the incantation anymore.[1] He is also able to use the spell to punch a corrupted Banther away from Rayla.[20] "Ventus Spiralis": A spell taught to Callum by Pyrrah via Ezran. It allows Callum and those near him to breathe in areas of low oxygen.[21] "Manus. Pluma. Volantus.": By drawing three runes on each arm, Ibis and "a rare few" Skywing Elves can turn their arms into mage wings, which enables them to fly. Callum's initial attempts at conjuring these wings proved fruitless, however, when he needed to save Rayla from falling off the Storm Spire and confessed his love for her, he was able to successfully finish the spell. With this ability, Callum was able to vault himself into a steep dive and quickly catch up to Rayla to grab her in free-fall, then lift her back up to the safety of the pinnacle.Angustiae Lautus": A spell that allows a mage to conjure up a miniature whirlwind that can help with clean up. Callum used this spell to create a whirlwind he nicknamed "Angus" to help with cleaning up the dungeons formerly occupied by Viren. When Callum lost focus on the spell, Angus disappeared and everything caught up in the whirlwind fell to the ground.[7] "Pluviam Praesidium": A spell that allows a mage to create a barrier above their head that protects them from the rain like an umbrella. Though it appears the mage does need to keep their arm upward to hold the spell. Callum uses this spell to travel across the courtyard of the Katolis Castle during a rainy morning.[1] "Eritque Arcus Ignus": A spell that causes colorful crystal balls to float and explode into fireworks of multiple shades. Callum uses this to welcome Zubeia to Katolis.

Sepultura Caelo": A spell that turns a body into a flock of birds. Callum used this spell to send Ibis onto his last journey into the sky after he had died.[23] "Stratum Caligo": A spell that covers an area in a bank of fog. Callum used it to cover a captured Azymondias from his Earthblood Elf captors.[24] "Ventum Circulo": A spell that creates a breeze-dome, capable of protecting against high temperatures. Callum used it for him and his friends to handle the heat of a magma chamber.[16] "Aspiro Frigis": This spell restrains a target with ice. Callum used it against one of the corrupted Banthers in Lux Aurea.[20] "Ventum Angulus": A spell that directs winds at an angle. Callum used it to manipulate the trajectory of Rayla's arrow.Ventus Validus": A spell that creates a flush of wind. Callum used it to propel The Ruthless.[5] "Lapis Caeli": A spell capable of taking away wind currents. Callum used it to help The Ruthless escape Finnegrin.[5] "Ferrum Venti": A spell that creates a gust of air capable of cutting objects such as ropes.[6] "Levare Ventum": This spell summons a current of wind to lift someone into the air.Historia Viventem": A moon spell taught to Callum by Lujanne which can show the history of the location in which the spell was cast upon. Through this spell, Callum found out what had happened to Tiadrin and Lain when Viren took the Dragon Prince's egg.[25] "Mors Aperta": By performing a dance and casting the Ancient Draconic incantation, Callum was able to temporarily reconstruct the Moonhenge and activate a portal to a world between life and death, located in the lake at the center of the Moon Nexus. Callum managed to connect to the Ocean arcanum while facing off against Finnegrin on the Sea Legs.[6] His connection also made it possible for Team Zym to find Aaravos's prison together, as well as helping to hold off Claudia with the help of Rayla.[27] "Terminus ad Glacium": Callum used this spell to counter Finnegrin's blood-freezing spell.

Aquis Spirare Faucibus": A spell used to breathe underwater.[27] Dark Magic Snake Morphing Spell - "Dnibnu leets gnirehtils." ("Slithering steel unbind."): This spell is capable of transforming an object, such as chains, into snakes using the essence of a white powder, a snake's belly, or an embalmed snake's rattle.[28][29] Although Callum was not comfortable using this spell, he cast it to help Rayla and the downed Pyrrah. As implied by Claudia, his inexperience with dark magic took a great deal of effort, draining his energy and causing him to pass out, giving him terrifying hallucinations and nightmares in the process. He later used this spell again to free himself from his chains aboard the Sea Legs.
