The events that take place throughout the story force Mikey to grow up quickly. He remains an incredibly charismatic leader, but now there is a hidden melancholy within him. Indeed, there is a great darkness within Mikey. He is forced to bear the burden of a troubled past, wavering between taking the right path and succumbing to this darkness. He usually hides this with his carefree smile. Without the right people to guide him, he becomes corrupted, turning into one of the most heinous criminals of modern times. Takemichi makes it his mission to ensure that Mikey never strays from the right path again. Even in the instances where Mikey succumbs to this darkness, there are contradictory aspects of his personality and contradictory behavior. He is seen to be attracted and interested in a life of violence, committing numerous atrocities or otherwise allowing his perpetrators to commit them without any visible signs of emotional reaction, acting with indifference and a cold face, capable of injuring or even shooting his close friends. At the same time, he tries to distance himself from his friends, likely knowing that he will not be able to control his impulses, trying to separate himself from the central command of his gang, and even going as far as attempting suicide in search of solace and a way to end the chaos he himself has created.

The central catalyst for this darkness is loss. When those close to Mikey suffer or die, it affects Mikey on a very personal level, to the point that he later claims that their souls are guiding him, to the surprise and concern of everyone present who doubts the veracity of these claims. As the death toll increases, Mikey's mental and emotional state deteriorates. While he is still able to act calm and normal, the effects of the growing darkness become increasingly apparent even to Mikey himself. It is through this loss that Mikey becomes vulnerable to manipulation, which subsequently leads to the degradation of his moral compass. In fact, in every timeline with a dark future, the cornerstone was laid by the death of those closest to Mikey, allowing third parties to fill the void in his heart with evil.

Mothers' story

Maiki has no parents, so he lived with his grandfather along with Emma and Shinichiro, who Maiki says was like a parent to them. In 2003, he founded the Toswa gang with Ryuguji, Baji, Mitsuya, Pachin, and Kazutora, with Maiki becoming its leader.
