Azusa Aizawa

History

Azusa previously lived as a 27-year-old normal human on Earth, in Japan, as a "corporate wage slave", working long consecutive hours at the expense of her personal life. This work ethic ultimately resulted in her death, as she fainted one day and woke up to the sight of an angel. After feeling sorry for Azusa for her short life, the angel promises to ensure that Azusa's next life has the potential to bring her "pure happiness" and allows her to do whatever prerequisites she wishes for her next life. Resurrected as an immortal Witch in the mountains near the rural town of Flatta, Azusa spends the next three hundred years in an easy life of hunting slimes and making potions.

Appearance

Since her reincarnation, Azusa takes on the appearance of a young European girl, around the age of 17. She has long blonde hair, with some of it braided around her head, and large blue eyes. Her main outfit is her witch's clothing, which comprises a large pointy hat, a black coat over a white blouse with a yellow tie, and a dark blue skirt. At other times, Azusa's outfit will change to suit the situation; like when she attended the Red Dragon's wedding, she wore a custom-made dress for the event, but, for the most part, she will be wearing her main outfit. In the light novel, it is unknown what Azusa looked like before reincarnating, with no descriptors during or after the introductory chapters to describe her. It is likely that she was a typical Japanese woman in her previous life. In the manga, however, she is depicted as an ordinary Japanese woman with long dark hair, though her face was not shown.

Personality

Azusa is generally characterized as a laid-back and carefree person, who takes things at her own pace and encourages others to do the same. Largely as a result of her death from overwork in her previous life, she is averse to demanding work, as she has spent most of her life killing slimes. On the other hand, she still recognizes the importance of completing it as long as it doesn't corrupt her life ethic. In addition, she is also very charitable and hospitable, having befriended and accepted a wide range of different people and species. This includes characters who originally intended to kill her, in Shalsha's case, and people who used her name to commit fraud. This attitude made her a beloved celebrity in Flatta, where the villagers offer to treat/reward Azusa as thanks for her medicine.

Development - Death and Rebirth

having spent her life working just for her job, poor Azusa ended up stuck working 50 days straight. The incredible strain this put on her body without having a day off to rest ended up killing her. A goddess who took pity on Azusa offered to reincarnate her in a new life where her happiness would be assured. When she was offered something of her choice, Azusa asked for eternal youth and immortality; she then she was sent to her new world. Elated by her slow, immortal new life, Azusa settled into a house in the highlands; she was ready for someone to live with a field next door. Discovering all that a crystal was left behind when she died, Azusa went to Flatta City to find out more; The adventurer's guild receptionist Natalie Sr. told Azusa that the crystals were magic stones that could be sold there if she joined the guild. Azusa did so and then her slow life of leisure began.

Development - 300 years later

After a routine day of killing 25 slimes, the receptionist Natalie Jr. asked Azusa to show her status, as she had been an adventurer for three centuries. To her surprise, Azusa was now level 99; she had a special ability that doubled the points she earned and that gave her more than eleven million. Natalie explained that a slime is worth two EXP, which is multiplied by two thanks to Azusa's ability; times that times 25 kills a day for 365 days a year for 300 years, and the result is this massive level. Azusa demanded that she keep the level a secret; knowing that the attention would ruin her slow life. However, a chatterbox adventurer was listening and spreading the news about her level. This attracted a quartet of adventurers who wished to test her power against her, though Azusa had no interest; she tried a simple wind spell to end a mock battle and ended up blowing them up.

Development - Getting to know Laika

As a result of the rumors, a dragon named Laika arrives to test her power against Azusa. Azusa gave him a case of brain freeze, causing the dragon to claim and damage his house. Hitting the dragon for a loop, Azusa demanded that it repair the house; Laika complied briefly by returning home for his savings. Despite feeling apprehensive, Azusa accepted Laika as her disciple to teach her the ways of a slow life so that the dragon could grow as strong as her; In addition, she helped me have a helper at home.

Development - The daughters

Shortly after Laika's arrival, Azusa learned that killing slimes for 250 years had led to their spirits merging into two slime spirits named Falfa and Shalsha. While Falfa loved Azusa as her mother for giving her life, Shalsha embodied the hatred of slimes; Shalsha planned to use Smite Evil to kill her, but Laika knocked her out to allow her spell to time out. Shalsha accepted her defeat with Falfa's encouragement and they both lobbed with her mother.

Development - The Elf, the Demon and the Ghost

Azusa's peaceful life was once again ruined by the arrival of an airheaded elf named Halkara, who believed that her energy drink poisoned a powerful demon named Beelzebub and was being hunted by it. It later turned out that it was a misunderstanding; Beelzebub was simply overworked and the Halkara village blamed her for jumping to conclusions. Although the matter was resolved, Halkara decided to move the business from him to Flatta and live with Azusa; her hometown wouldn't let her come back and her tax rate was 40%. Later, Azusa bent over a ghost that was haunting the building that Halkara wanted to turn into her factory. Calling on Beelzebub for help, they discover that the ghost was a girl named Rosalie, who they helped out of the confines of the factory and invited to stay at the cottage in the Highlands. Dragon Strife Azusa was invited by Laika to attend her sister's wedding. The party was attacked by blue dragons led by a jealous Flatorte. Azusa smacked them with gravity magic and had Flatorte make a pact to make sure no more attacks were made against the red dragons. As a result, Azusa received a medal from the Demon King, who was impressed by the stories Beelzebub told him about Azusa's exploits.

Powers and Abilities

Azusa remained ignorant of much of her magic for centuries. After leveling out of her, she is learning how to use magic from her. Her main abilities are immortality and eternity, which was granted to her by the Divine Divine at her request.
