To find him, Shepard sends Task Force 141, along with Graves and Shadow, to Las Almas to search for Gassan. Ghost, Soap and Alejandro Vargas, along with Los Vaqueros, search for Ghassan around the village in the mountainous area, but are unsuccessful as the Cartel had previously taken him away. The trio then traveled to Cartel territory, where they summoned Graves and Shadows to support them upstairs while in AC-130. After successfully capturing Gassan, the team makes their way through the village where they are ambushed by the Cartel, prompting Graves to immediately support them. In order to gather more information on the whereabouts of the stolen missiles, Graves helps Sope and Alejandro infiltrate a mansion and capture Valeria Garza, the leader of the Las Almas Cartel, also known as "El Sin Nombre." During the interrogation, Graves learns the location of the second missile, whereupon Graves and Shadows, accompanied by Task Force 141 and Alejandro, go on a mission to locate the stolen missile and destroy it on an abandoned oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Graves then betrays Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros by capturing Los Vaqueros headquarters in Las Almas, imprisoning Mexican special forces as well as Alejandro, and attempting to kill Soap and Gost. Later, Graves begins "interrogating" police officers and civilians on the streets of Las Almas, trying to find out the whereabouts of Hassan Ziani, as well as Soap and Gost. After a little investigation, Laswell learns of Operation Backstory, which reveals that Graves and Shadows were hired by Shepard to secretly transport three stolen ballistic missiles to allies fighting in the Middle East. The convoy was ambushed by Connie's PMC, and all of the Shadow mercenaries were killed. The PMC overheard Graves and Shepard talking about the missiles, which prompted them to sell the missiles to Ghassan to fulfill his plan of revenge against America. Since the delivery of the missiles was illegal and not done according to the rules, it forced Graves and Shepard to cover up the details of the operation to hide their involvement in stealing the missiles. While Los Vaqueros HQ fought off Ghost's team, Graves escapes from HQ, where he tries to kill Soap and Rodolfo by climbing into a tank, taunting and abusing them both. Eventually, Soap throws a C4, which hits the tank's cockpit directly, causing an explosion that appears to the team to kill Graves. However, Gost's team didn't realize Graves wasn't in the tank. He managed to fake his death and continue to run the Shadow Company through his deputy Osmond "Oz" Ryan, the de facto head of the PMC. Several months later, Graves meets with Urzykstan Liberation Force leaders Farah Karim and Alex Keller to discuss Connie's group's advance into Al Mazrah.")}]]]
