Snape developed a passion for the Dark Arts at an early age, and preferred the supremacy of pure blood in Slytherin House, despite his love for Lily Evans, who was born of muggles.

After Hogwarts # ##After graduating from Hogwarts, Snape joined the Death Eaters. His crowning moment within Voldemort's circle and, paradoxically, the end of his days as a Death Eater, came when he heard Sybill Trelawney's prophecy to Dumbledore in Hog's Head. When Snape realized that the fate of Lily Potter, the woman he still loved, was in danger, he begged Voldemort not to kill her. Not sure this was going to happen, he went to Dumbledore, offering anything to save Lily. Lily died, causing the disappointment of Snape, who had believed that Voldemort would not kill her and settling his alliance with the Order of the Phoenix, with the only condition that Dumbledore not reveal his motives (his love for Lily), whom he loved for always.
