Slender Man is a character that has its origins on the internet, and that opened the door to the creepypasta genre. More specifically, his first appearance was in a forum thread called 4chan that started on June 8, 2009, and whose main mission was to edit photographs to give it a creepy appearance. There was only one indispensable ingredient: supernatural entities had to appear. Two days after opening that forum, on June 10, 2009, the user Victor Surge (whose real name was later found out to be Eric Knudsen) contributed two photos taken in 1926 of groups of children, to which he added a spectral figure. tall and thin, dressed in a black suit and a dark tie with no decipherable face. The previous entries only had the stripped photographs, and Surge went further and added complementary text to the montages indicating that the children were kidnapped, and where numerous supposed witnesses gave an aura of credibility and terror that was little by little converted.
