Personality

Miko has a mysterious demeanor around her whenever she assumes her duties as the Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine. When she assumes her duties as the boss of the Yae Publishing House, she is known to be very kind and enjoys reading books and stories,[2] although she also shows an obsessive side in making profits at the same time. She has an enigmatic air around her, with her friends growing used to it.[3] When speaking with outsiders or close friends, she shows a blunter and more cynical side to her. Miko does not mince words, even towards her friend and master Ei. Being a kitsune, Miko is fond of fried tofu. She despises pickled foods of all sorts. As a kitsune and youkai, she's very mischievous, including in her roles as Guuji and owner of Yae Publishing House. She couples this mischievous streak with impressive skills of manipulation and reading people. As such her tricks and pranks are usually elaborate, long-winded affairs towards rather simple ends, which she does out of enjoyment and the fact that she enjoys watching people squirm.[4] This has caused many people, such as Thoma and Gorou to become easily terrified upon seeing her. If not partaking in such affairs, she shows interest in those who get her attention. She is one of Ei's only friends who survived the ravages of time. She tends to call the Shogun by her true name, Ei. Ei herself also calls Miko by her first name, signifying their closeness and friendship. Despite her light-hearted, mischievous personality, she showed a more emotional side during the Hyakkiyakou, indicating that she does genuinely care for those in her life and has considered thousands of youkai from across Inazuma to be her friends. Though in typical fashion for her, she quickly turns the Traveler and Paimon's sympathy into opportunity to trick them into paying for an expensive dinner.

Appearance

Yae Miko has long waist length pink hair tied into a low ponytail and affixed with a large circular golden hair accessory at its peak. As a kitsune she bears large pink ears that blend into her hair, And she also has pink fox ears that point downward, as well as huge golden earrings. While not initially visible, has five white translucent tails while performing certain abilities. Her outfit is a modified version of the traditional shrine priestess grab, with flowing white and red drapes, detached sleeves, a big black and red ribbon towards the back, and the front cut noticeably higher, exposing her bare legs. Her vision can be found on her right earring.

The head shrine maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine, descendant of Hakushin's lineage, Eternity's servant and friend, and the intimidating editor-in-chief of Yae Publishing House, a publisher of light novels... Come to think of it, Yae Miko's nicknames are as myriad as her changeable moods. The number of people who have tried to "figure her out" for various reasons could fill the streets from the Tenryou Commission estate to Yae Publishing House if you were to line them all up, but to this day, very few indeed have succeeded. Not that Miko has ever intended to conceal anything, of course. Any capriciousness is but the result of doing as she wills and pleases. A riddle with no solution is no riddle at all, in any case! You just need to remember that she will always be none other than the wise and beautiful Yae Miko.

Intelligence

As a descendant of Kitsune lineage, Yae Miko is extremely clever. She often uses her wit and intelligence to achieve her goals as well as neutralize dangerous situations.

Favorite Food

Her favorite food, Kitsune Udon, is literally just fried tofu on top of udon noodles. Kitsune Udon is actually Yae Miko's specialty dish. Kitsune Udon takes ordinary udon noodles and spruces the dish up with a pink bowl, sakura flowers, and a kitsune drawn on the tofu.

Teasing

Kitsune are known for having mischievious personalities, and Yae Miko is certainly no exception. Yae Miko always enjoys teasing her friends and even said that making people squirm is one of her favorite pastimes. She's so good at playing with people's heads that some are even afraid of her, like Gorou and Thoma. Yae Miko doesn't have any malicious intent, though. Yae Miko's lighthearted personality and knack for teasing others are actually pretty endearing. Though it annoys some people, Yae Miko is undeniably charming, and it's hard to dislike her.

Sense Of Humor

As a kitsune, Yae Miko definitely has a cunning, mischievous personality. She loves teasing people and playing harmless pranks on her friends. Yae's sarcastic humor makes for some of the game's best one-liners. Often boasting about her reputation and making harmless jests at someone else, the Inazuman archon quest just wouldn't have been the same if Yae Miko weren't a part of it. Other characters talk about Yae Miko with anything from genuine admiration to subtle indifference and even fear, in Gorou's case. Itto says that he beat her in a Kitsune Ramen eating contest and forced her to foot the bill for 32 bowls, while Kujou Sara says that she respects her, but she doesn't understand her personality at all.

Reading Books

As the owner of a renowned publishing house, it's not surprising that Yae Miko is a literary enthusiast. In one of her voice lines, she criticizes the recent trend of authors writing stories about traveling to other worlds. Even in Genshin Impact, isekai light novels are wildly popular. Yae Miko said that she created the Yae Publishing House because she was bored with the current light novel market. However, she also said that the real fun starts when authors are desperate to meet their deadlines and desperately scramble to tie up all the loose ends. She even said that the authors are more creative at coming up with excuses than actually writing novels.
