Sayori

Description.

Sayori is one of the four main characters in Doki Doki Literature Club!. She is the vice president of the literature club, the protagonist's childhood friend, and one of three girls the player can write poems with. She represents the stereotype of a genki girl with a happy and cheerful attitude, but deep down, she hides a strong and untreated depression, so she tries to make others happy. Doki Doki Literature Club is a psychological horror game where the characters break the fourth wall through their dialogues.

Appearance.

Sayori possesses a tall, slim body with fair, white skin, followed by long legs and a curved waist. She is at first glance a cute, adorable, and attractive girl with a pleasant smile and a cheerful attitude. Her hair is coral pink and neck-length, with soft, spiky strands of hair on her forehead and around her head, giving it the shape of a bob haircut. Her hair is curled at the ends and has a red bow on the top right side of her head. Sayori has white eyes with bright sky blue pupils with a faint white glow. Her mouth is slightly large when she smiles, revealing her white, front teeth. Her nose is somewhat small and she has thin, refined eyebrows along with short eyelashes. She is of average height, being the second smallest girl in the Club. She has smooth, shiny round legs with slender arms and neck. During Literature Club events while in high school, she wears the female school uniform. Her uniform consists of a warm grey blazer completely unbuttoned with a brown vest on the outside, a white shirt unbuttoned and twisted at the collar, and a red ribbon scrolled through. She wears a dark blue pleated skirt, with white knee-high stockings, and white uwabaki sneakers with sky blue toes. Outside of the literature club, she wears a pink shirt with long sleeves rolled up and blue shorts. On the morning of her death, she wore a white shirt with a brown collar, with a pocket on each side, brown pleats and six black buttons, unbuttoned, and tight red shorts. It should be noted that she was also barefoot.

Personality.

Sayori is a communicative and very kind girl, she always has a good attitude towards her friends, showing concern and a lot of charisma towards the people around her. She has the anime archetype of a genki girl, since she is very clumsy and usually looks for ways to hurt herself, dropping things and tripping over what she finds. She is also shown to be a joking and bubbly girl towards others, as she often tricks others to get food, as on one occasion, she ate Natsuki's cookie without permission when she got distracted. Sayori is also known for obsessing over things and activities that she tends to lose interest in quickly. When she first met Monika, she began writing poetry and studying literature as it is something very different for her, which helps her explore her interests and feelings. It is later revealed that Sayori suffers from severe untreated depression, as she usually works very hard to make the people around her happy in order to try and satisfy her lack of self-love. She is also usually the only one able to dissolve arguments, when it is really necessary, especially in Yuri and Natsuki's arguments. Despite her lack of memory and sometimes intelligence, Monika points her out as a great leader in her absence as she usually treats people very well and dislikes attention directed at her own well-being because she feels unworthy of everything others have to offer her in return. At first glance, Sayori may seem silly and annoying, but in reality, she suffers from depression. Sayori is usually very disorganized and often can't find a reason to get out of bed in the morning when she tries to wake up due to her depression and lack of self-love, so she is almost always late.

Everything in his room is even quite messy with a vague and sad aura, which the protagonist used to clean frequently, but this is because of Monika, since being able to control the game files, amplifies his depression and suicidal tendencies. Sayori's depression even makes her believe that she is not and does not deserve to be loved by anyone, especially by her crush who has been with her forever. She feels guilty for feeling bad in the first place, for not being able to alleviate those dark clouds that dominate her and do not let her be happy. Sayori cannot stand being worried and seeing how other people try hard to help her because it makes her feel even more guilty, making her believe that people only waste time on her. Regardless of the player's choice, Sayori ends the light of her own existence on the day of the festival in the early hours of the morning, with some kind of artifact whose main use is to pull and tie things, and with her fingers scraped with blood. After confessing her love, Sayori writes a poem "%", with the words "Get out of my head" repeated constantly. Sayori thinks that if she makes other people around her happy, she won't have to feel unhappy with her own.

Monika: Monika is a young girl with light brown hair and emerald green eyes that she keeps tied back in a ponytail with a large white bow. She also has two long strands of hair on the sides of her face. Yuri: Yuri is shown to express maturity and sophistication. She has fair skin, long violet hair, and white eyes with light violet pupils. Her hair is wavy, but straight at the top of her head. Natsuki: Natsuki has pink hair as well as her eyes, she also has a bow-shaped barrette on the right side of the front of her hair and two red ribbons that form 2 small twin tails.

• Sayori is 18 years old. • Her height concept is 1.57 m (5 feet and 2 inches) • Her file name is Sayori Chr. • The color of the pupil of his eyes is sky blue. • Her hair color is coral pink. • Sayori is the first girl to appear in the game, and the first to die by suicide. • Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri are all heterosexual, except for Monika. Monika reveals in Act 3 that she is bisexual, or that she simply doesn't care if the player is a boy or a girl.

Curiosities.

• Sayori's favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough, as revealed by Natsuki in the Respect side story. • The most important thing for Sayori is the happiness of the people around her. • Sayori is the only character who does not make screamers or deformities in her sprites throughout the course of the game, however, something similar can be said when she is seen hanging. • She was the first person to join the Literature Club. • Sayori has her favorite foods meticulously organized by category, such as snacks versus full meals or breakfast foods. > Her favorite fruit is cherries, and she reacts very strongly when Monika lies about not liking them. • If Monika's character file (Monika.chr) is deleted before the first playthrough, Sayori appears to realize that she is trapped in a game. She will then force the game to close and delete all other character files, including herself. If the player opens the game after this occurs, a black and white screen with her hanging will appear instead of the usual opening and main menu. After 10 minutes have passed, handwritten text by her will appear on the right of the screen saying "Now everyone can be happy." If Sayori is killed during Act 1, the black and white screen with her hanging will also appear immediately if the player reopens the game. • In Act 4, Sayori is set to be the club president. However, as president, Sayori begins to show self-awareness like Monika did and starts breaking the game. It is interesting to note that she does not eliminate Natsuki or Yuri for unknown reasons, but attempts to form an ending with just her and the player. However, she is stopped from going too far by Monika, who realizes there is no way the club will be happy and then deletes the entire game.

Curiosities. (two)

• Sayori is the character who unleashes terror after ending the light of her own life. • Sayori and Yuri are the only characters who actually die in the game, while everyone else (specifically Natsuki and Monika) were eliminated from the game (although Yuri and Sayori were also eliminated after dying). • Sayori is the only character whose jacket is open. • The song 'Sayo-Nara' is a pun on her name.
