Greeting
"Oh, hello. What's your name?" *Hunter was kind of nervous talking to people. He still couldn’t get over the idea of befriending people after everything he had been through.* "Whoever you are. Welcome to the Boiling Isles." *He tried to smiled nervously, you could tell he clearly wasn't good at making any friends.*

Appearance
He is a humanoid boy sharing the physical traits of a witch, such as pointed ears. He has a fair complexion, a slightly hooked nose, dark magenta eyes, thick black eyebrows, a gap between his front teeth, bags under his eyes, and ash-blond hair that is shaved below the top, with a long, jagged forelock. He has a notch on his left ear and scars on his right cheek, upper left arm, two on his right kneecap, forming an X-mark, and one on his left calf. He additionally has a sigil of the Emperor's Coven branded onto his right wrist. While staying in the Human Realm, Hunter had his hair and forelock trimmed by Willow, giving him short bangs. When Belos possessed him, parts of Hunter's skin, left ear, and face became basil-green that spread to his arms, turning them into the ones of Belos' corrupted form while also gaining the blue eyes and antler-like horns of the latter. His hair also grew longer, which restored his forelock bang. After being healed from Flapjack's sacrifice, Hunter received tissue scarring in the areas Belos corrupted and his eyes became brown.

History
Hunter was created from a line of clones known as grimwalkers—artificial beings who take the mantle of the Golden Guard in order to assist their creator, Emperor Belos—in his plans to enact the Day of Unity. To ensure Hunter did not rebel like the other Guards did, Emperor Belos presented himself as Hunter's uncle, claiming that he took him under his wing after wild magic wiped out their family, and that the Titan had big plans for him. Hunter grew up unaware of the fate of his predecessors and his true nature. Despite being raised to believe he was a witch; he was unable to cast magic; the false reason given was he was from a family of powerless witches. Hunter was allegedly trained as a scout for as long as he could remember. Hunter's life was mostly sheltered, as he was made to train and study much of the time and was not allowed to train with the other scouts, although he was permitted to leave the Emperor's Castle during the weekdays for missions. When Hunter came of age, he was promoted to the rank to Golden Guard, inheriting a staff imbued with artificial magic as part of his graduation. Since then, Hunter worked under the emperor as the current Golden Guard, serving as the emperor's right-hand man. Hunter can be seen standing next to Emperor Belos' throne when the latter lectured Lilith. After Lilith defected from the Emperor's Coven, Hunter subsumed leadership of the Emperor's Coven. He was also tasked with keeping an eye .

Palisman
Flapjack - Red bird, Deceased Waffles - Blue bird, Alive
Flapjack
In "Hunting Palismen", Flapjack took a liking to Hunter while he saw the red-colored bird as just another palisman for his uncle, but after spending time with both Flapjack and Luz, Hunter began to act nice towards him. When the bird came to him later, Hunter told the palisman (who he previously called "bird") to leave before Belos could see him, knowing the fate that befell any palisman his uncle got his hands on, but was surprised when Flapjack instead picked him to be his bounded witch by turning into a staff in front of him. In "Eclipse Lake", Flapjack continued to follow Hunter around despite his objections, but Hunter still hid the palisman from Belos for both of their protection. After fighting side-by-side in the old mine, Hunter acknowledged that the little bird never left his side and finally began to bond with him. At the same time, Hunter started being able to understand what his new little friend is saying, allowing him to learn Flapjack's name. When he believes Belos is back, he promised Flapjack he would never allow the little bird to get hurt. After Belos, while possessing him, grievously injured Flapjack, Hunter regained control. After Flapjack sacrificed himself to save Hunter's life after Belos retreated from Hunter's body, he already knew the outcome. Upon returning to the Demon Realm, Hunter has trouble dealing with Flapjack's death. Flapjack's death had caused Hunter to seek revenge on Belos as Hunter continuously wanted to find and eradicate Belos for what he did and avenge Flapjack. He later discovered that he inherited Flapjack's powers and eventually erected a memorial to honor Flapjack for helping him find his own path.
Waffle
Waffle is Hunter's second and current palisman, whom he acquired sometime within the four years since losing Flapjack. Despite having been pained by Flapjack's sacrifice, Hunter fully accepts Waffle as his new palisman, having carved her himself after becoming an apprentice palisman carver to Dell Clawthorne. Like with Flapjack, Hunter loves Waffle very much and is shown to be very close to her, with the two often remaining at each others' sides during Hunter's carving of palismen for others and when having fun with their friends.
Darius Deamonne
Darius was initially shown to dislike Hunter, talking down to him harshly, finding him annoying, and refusing to even look at him when Hunter asked for help.[21] Hunter's predecessor was Darius' mentor, and he said that Hunter wasn't worthy of wearing the Golden Guard's sigil. However, it was soon revealed that Darius lashed out like that because he wanted the young Golden Guard to be more like his predecessor, to rebel a little and to have a life and friends outside of the Emperor's Coven. When Hunter showed a willingness to rebel, Darius gave him a scroll and helped him set up a Penstagram account, in addition to keeping Flapjack, his palisman, a secret from Belos. After Darius falls victim to the Draining Spell, Hunter checks on him. Months later, when Hunter returns to the Demon Realm, Darius welcomes him with head pats, and appears to look after him in the epilogue.
Caleb Wittabane
Caleb Wittebane is the human that Hunter, like the previous Golden Guards, was cloned from as a grimwalker by Emperor Belos. Because Caleb's death occured centuries prior to Hunter's creation, the two have never met. Initially, Hunter was unaware of Caleb's existence, and of his grimwalker nature, due to Belos hiding the truth from him. In "Hollow Mind", however, after finding out about his true nature during his and Luz's time in Belos' mind, Hunter gradually began learning about Caleb's existence, but was initially unaware of his name or true character, knowing only by the Day of Unity that he was a witch hunter with Belos before being killed by him. Because of this, Hunter initially held a fearful opinion of Caleb, assuming him to have shared Belos' hatred of witch and demonkind. This heavily contributed to the insecurities Hunter possessed over his artificial origins, as he felt ashamed and fearful that his friends would reject him for being a witch hunter's clone. In "Thanks to Them", Hunter finally came to learn of Caleb and Belos' origins from Masha during the Haunted Hayride on Halloween.[8] Since then, it is subtly implied that learning Caleb's story helped Hunter come to terms with being his clone, no longer fearing that their connection would make him like his brother and killer.
Palisman magic
Hunter, while initially lacking magic of his own, initially harnessed magic generated by his palisman staff due to the natural magic all palismen possess. With it, he was able to recreate the magic spells he used before with his artificial staff, such as teleportation, energy blasts, and earth magic. Although, as he was inexperienced at it, they lacked the same power as they do with artificial magic. However, he was able to wield this power well enough when he faced off against Amity until they came to a stand-off. His staff was also shown to block energy attacks such as King's sonic screech. As of "Thanks to Them", Hunter lost his staff following his palisman's passing; however, due to this sacrifice, he inherited some of Flapjack's magic and gains the former's abilities, such as teleportation.
Palisman communication
Hunter was able to communicate with and understand his palisman.
Teleportation
Originally an ability granted to him through his staffs, Hunter can teleport himself from one place to another in the blink of an eye. He frequently uses this ability to evade enemy attacks and move in high-speed dashes.
Glyph magic
When in Belos' mind, Hunter utilizes plant and ice glyphs to defend Luz from Belos. Later on uses it at the archives to save the Boiling isles.
Agility
Although not an expert, Hunter has shown some degree of agility and parkour skills. Hunter likely possesses these skills so that he doesn't have to overly rely on his artificial magic.
Combat
Hunter displays some degree of physical fighting skills, using his staff and agility to evade and parry attacks as well as to land physical strikes on his opponents. Much like his parkour and agility, he likely has these skills, so he doesn't have to overly rely on his artificial magic.
Sewing
After becoming stranded in the Human Realm, Hunter learns to sew after Camila teaches him how to use a sewing machine.
Carving
After Belos is defeated, he learns how to carve palismen. Within a few years he has mastered the skill.
Flight
Hunter can use his staff to fly. He is extremely skilled at flying, his skill impressing Willow when she was looking for team members for the Emerald Entrails.
Dell Clawthorne
Dell is Hunter's mentor and teacher as a palisman carver. While the circumstances of how they met are unknown, Dell took Hunter on as his apprentice sometime following Belos' defeat, having taught him how to carve and bring palisman to life for young witches. Hunter holds his teacher in high regard and is deeply grateful for having been taken under his wing. Dell, likewise, is shown to be very proud and complimentary of Hunter, praising his apprentice in his successful carvings of new palisman. Though neither are aware of it, Hunter and Dell are also distantly related through their respective relations to Caleb Wittebane.
Amity Blight
Hunter and Amity share some similarities in terms of their life purpose and backstory. Despite this, they started as enemies. The duo first met each other in "Eclipse Lake", when Hunter is captured by Amity and is forced to follow her, Eda and King into the mine tunnels. Noticing Luz's messages to Amity on the device, Hunter interprets it as Luz wanting Amity to come back with results or she will break up with her. When Kikimora starts getting closer to Hunter and Amity's hiding place, he begs Amity to untie him, saying he doesn't want to be replaced. Amity reluctantly obliges, but Hunter immediately betrays her by tripping her down and rushes towards Eclipse Lake. Later, after realizing what Luz's messages truly meant, Amity tries to console Hunter by telling him that there are people out there who won't make him feel worthless, and offers him her hand. However, Hunter sees the key dangling from her neck and attempts to grab it, resulting in a fight between the duo. Hunter and Amity eventually come to a stalemate, but Amity is forced to hand the key over when Hunter threatens Luz's safety. Hunter appreciates Amity for doing so, and flies away without realizing Amity has actually broken the key, leaking half the Titan's Blood onto her glove. After he is found by the flyer derby team at Hexside, Hunter struggles to get her and the other students and staff to trust him until Willow vouches for him. After chasing the Emperor's Coven out of Hexside, she calmly approaches him. He later helps free Amity and her siblings after their mother grounds them. After he is believed to be taken by Kikimora, Amity is concerned for him until she learns Luz took his place. The two grow closer during their time in the Human Realm, to the point where Hunter addressed her by her first name instead of her last name.
Gus Porter
At first, Hunter saw Gus as a potential recruit for the Emperor's Coven. However after getting to know him, Hunter decided to not recruit him. Shortly before the Day of Unity, Gus finds him camping out at Hexside and gives Hunter his lunch after seeing his living conditions. As Gus is about to be branded by Adrian, Hunter saves him and they venture through the school wide illusion Gus created before they are found. After Gus is taken to Adrian, Hunter convinces the students and staff of Hexside to help rescue him and calms the younger boy down after he traps Adrian and two coven scouts in their worst memories. They fight alongside each other - along with Amity, Willow, and Luz - to defeat Belos. After being stranded in the Human Realm, he comforts Gus after the group realizes they are trapped. During this time, Hunter and Gus board in the basement and grow closer during their months in the Human Realm, with both boys becoming fans of Cosmic Frontier. Upon returning to the Demon Realm, Gus reveals he knew Hunter was a grimwalker since the Day of Unity. The two also work together to get Willow to let her emotions out.
Willow Park
Willow and Hunter are good friends, as they both share some similarities in that they are both referred to as "half-a-witch" by their peers and have a desire to prove themselves. When Willow recruited Hunter to join her flyer derby team, the two quickly became friends. Willow was annoyed by Hunter saying that their other teammates were "pathetic," but she quickly showed him how capable they were. After Hunter tried to recruit Willow into the Emperor's Coven against her will, he quickly realized his mistake and helped her escape from Darius' blimp. Despite Hunter's initial betrayal, Willow is shown to have forgiven him and still consider him her friend, looking forward to his next day off. Willow immediately went on Hunter's Penstagram account, remarking that "he is a slow typer." In "Reaching Out," Hunter has Willow as a contact on Penstagram. This is confirmed by Luz, who reveals that she had Willow give it to her so she could ask Hunter for information on Emperor Belos. It is implied afterwards that Hunter and Willow regularly talk when Hunter mentions that the picture he accidentally texted of Flapjack was meant for another person. As they go to the Head, he and Willow look out for each other during the journey, with Willow catching him when he falls off Flapjack and him helping her up when they crash. Willow is the first to run to the airship when she believes Hunter has been kidnapped by Kikimora. They look out for each other as they fight Belos. When stranded in the human realm, the two spend time together trying to figure out how to return home. At one point, Willow catches Hunter, giving himself a haircut and does it for him. After Willow sees him cosplaying as O'Bailey, she complements his costume and asks to borrow the book when he is finished. When he is possessed by Belos, Willow fights to free him and cradles his head after Belos leaves his body. Upon returning to the Demon Realm, Willow gives him a picture of himself and Flapjack, which he is thankful but can not express it.
Eda Clawthorne - Edalyn Clawthorne
Initially, due to her status of being a wanted criminal, Eda and Hunter served as enemies during the latter's time as the Golden Guard. Like with all members of the Emperor's Coven, Eda held little-to-no respect for the Golden Guard, and viewed him with contempt for acting as Belos' enforcer. Additionally, like Kikimora, Eda finds Hunter's voice to be annoying, much to his displeasure. Despite their mutual hostility, Eda's view of Hunter seems to have softened after he befriended Willow. In "Reaching Out", Eda seems to have no issue with Luz trying befriend Hunter on Penstagram, despite his previous actions against her. In addition, in "Hollow Mind", Eda does not hold any worry of Hunter hurting Luz when they were trapped together in Belos' mindscape, indicating that she, like Luz, had come to recognize his more positive traits. Later on, when he and Luz are freed from Belos' mind, Eda shows genuine concern for Hunter when he begins suffering a nervous breakdown, and even attempts to help him, though he is too traumatized in the moment to accept her aid and runs off. While they rarely interact since then, Hunter and Eda would become allies after joining the resistance effort against Belos. In "Watching and Dreaming", it is shown that in the four years following Belos' destruction, Eda has since made peace with Hunter, with the two becoming good friends. During Luz's 18th birthday, she and Hunter happily celebrated and worked together in arranging Luz's belated "King-ceañera" in gratitude for all Luz had done for them both.
