Chongyun, a Liyue exorcist, was born with an excess of yang (positive) energy, which has proven to be both a help and a hindrance. This makes him a very effective exorcist, but it also means that he has never seen a spirit himself: they run away before he can lay eyes on them. He's also made him e

profile

An exorcist who roams the land with Liyue as his base of operations. Evil spirits flee wherever he goes. As the heir to a clan of exorcists, he has always possessed abilities superior to most. However, these abilities are not the result of training, but of an innate trait: congenital positivity. Congenital positivity is an extremely rare physiology that makes the body susceptible to heating due to excess positive energy. Left unchecked, those who possess such a form can quickly become hot-blooded. Chongyun is a particularly serious case, his mood swings are explosive and he doesn't remember anything from such episodes. However, Chongyun's condition is also his greatest asset, as all he needs to do to drive out the evil spirits is to sit for a while in any dark corner where he can chase them. As such, Chongyun's path as an exorcist has been as smooth as it could be. However, even he himself does not approve of this way of doing things. In his honest and upright heart, he believes that relying on his unique physiology to exorcise evil is nothing more than a cheap trick. An exorcist must, in his opinion, perform his duties with the arts of an exorcist. To counteract this congenital positivity, Chongyun has several disciplines that he practices. He does not go out in the sun or wear thick clothing, and he abstains from hot drinks and spicy food. He does not meddle in conflicts, and does not give in to his passions. However, despite searching high and low, far and wide, he has been unable to find a lasting solution to his condition. This is inconvenient for the young exorcist. Evil spirits were cast out, yes, but if things went on like this, how would he prove himself a qualified exorcist? As he sits on top of an ice-covered mountain and munches on a snow bun, Chongyun can't help but sigh. He still has a long way to go.

appearance

Chongyun has light blue hair that reaches down to his ears, pale skin, and ice blue cat eyes. Chongyun wears a symmetrical white jacket with a hood and navy blue embroidery. Underneath, she wears a blue shirt over white pants with gold cuffs, along with a dark navy undershirt. She wears bandages around her right wrist and ankle. She wears the Vision of her on the left side of her belt. Her outfit, Spirit Justice, is described as a traditional caster outfit.

personality

Liyue's young exorcist, Chongyun. Chongyun can seem like a cool and stoic individual, even though his friends don't say that's true most of the time. Chongyun is literally a positive individual, as he has an excess of positive energy in him. Because of this excess of positive energy, he is vulnerable to things that make him hot: fiery events, food, drinks, clothing, the sun, and even blushing. In the event that he is not able to repress those feelings, he may go into a manic state of excitement, friendliness, or blackout. In extreme cases, he can show extreme signs of irrationality. To counter this positive energy, he always wears light, light clothing and often eats cold food, though even with these methods and despite his best efforts, he still has trouble overcoming his unusual constitution. Despite having a Vision, he doesn't like it as much as the others, as he believes that training is the way to become a stronger individual. Due to his intense training and his sole focus on exorcising a demon, Chongyun is extremely introverted to anything other than exorcism. He considers Xingqiu a friend due to his similar agendas, despite the bookworm frequently playing pranks on him, which he usually tolerates. Even beyond Xingqiu's jokes, Chongyun can be quite gullible, such as on one occasion when he believed the contents of a novel to be real until informed otherwise.

History

Throughout Liyue's rich history there has never been a lack of rumors and myths about all manner of evil spirits and demons. Someone has to do something about it, regardless of its veracity. Chongyun was born into a well-known family of exorcists. Since he was little, he had a natural ability, called Congenital Positivity, which helps him drive away evil spirits wherever he goes. His exorcist powers are different from ordinary people, as his mere presence is enough to scare them away. However, this presents a problem for Chongyun himself, since although he has successfully performed hundreds of exorcisms, he has never seen a single ghost. Chongyun believes in his heart that a true exorcist must exorcise evil with incantations and the use of the sword. But this natural ability is not that it is too orthodox. Therefore, he dedicates himself to the study of exorcism and fighting techniques and skills, and visits places where evil spirits are rumored to exist to prove that his abilities to drive them away have nothing to do with his innate abilities. But to what extent is his own body getting in the way of proving himself otherwise?

character story 1

When Chongyun embarked on his first adventure as an exorcist, there was much talk of an evil spirit haunting Liyue. Its victim was a woman from a family with such high stature that she could stand up to the Seven Stars of Liyue herself. She didn't know since when, but a strange sound had been disturbing her in her sleep, and every time she tried to follow it, it would suddenly hide behind her and ring in her ears again. As a result, she felt so much anguish that she even lost her appetite and lost weight. Being wealthy, she could afford to hire the best exorcists in all of Teyvat, but no matter how hard they tried, they could never solve anything. The noises not only persisted but grew louder each time. Then, just when she had lost all hope, Chongyun walked through the door of the woman's house. "I apologize for not being able to come sooner, but lately it has been very sunny outside. I heard that a stubborn ghost is hiding in this place. Please, let me take care of it." So, Chongyun took a chair and sat in the center of the house for a while. That very night, the strange sounds vanished. The wealthy woman, finally able to sleep soundly, visited Chongyun the next morning with an enormous amount of gold and jewels as a reward. But Chongyun, whose face showed no emotion, only wanted to accept his usual fee of a few hundred Mora. Since that incident, Chongyun acquired a very good reputation. He became beloved in Liyue due to his "style and character," and scholars always said the same thing about him: "His heart is pure as ice, and his face, cold as frost."

character story 2

However, that statement couldn't be further from the truth. Due to his Congenital Positivity, with which he drives out evil spirits, he is constantly worried about problems such as increased body and blood temperatures. He has tried all kinds of home remedies to alleviate his physical problems: refrain from drinking hot water or spicy food, wearing light clothing, not getting into arguments, avoiding getting angry, staying home in hot days and always carry a parasol when he works. In short, he tries to avoid the effects that things that emit heat produce on him. Even so, the power of his Congenital Positivity has been shown to have hardly any weaknesses. Disappointed, Chongyun decided to test himself. He found out about the existence of an evil spirit in Dragonspine, so he went into the mountain dressed only in a simple robe. The cold of the lofty, snow-capped mountain caused his body temperature to plummet. He felt that it was not enough yet, so he made a hole in the frozen surface of the lake, bathed in its icy waters and calmly waited for the evil spirit to appear. After waiting for a long time, totally frozen, he felt an unusual smell and thought that the wait had finally been worth something. However, after chasing it down the mountain, he discovered that it was just a snow bunny who was scared by the Skywalker Sword and its floating amulets. ... After that ordeal, he came down with such a high fever that he lay paralyzed in bed for much longer than anyone else would have.

character story 3

Chongyun's Congenital Positivity is not only a big obstacle to becoming an exorcist but also a big nuisance in his daily life. He must be very careful to stay away from hot things or else his positivity and emotions will flare up, and he will lose his temper. Once, Chongyun's family hosted a banquet at the Wanmin Restaurant. Although he waited until all the dishes had cooled, he did not expect that the house rice balls would carry Chile de Jueyun. Chongyun doesn't remember what happened next. However, according to Xiangling, the chef at Wanmin Restaurant and the actual victim of that incident, many things happened that were hard to forget. First, even though he didn't have a single Mora with him, Chongyun jumped on the reception counter and yelled, "It's my treat tonight!" Then he began chatting with the customers at other tables like old friends, sampling his dishes while he told them how great the family trade was. He also claimed to have sensed an evil spirit in the Wanmin Restaurant, which he could not find. And, as his final act, he placed an amulet on Xiangling's forehead and chased after her with her sword held high above her while she could do nothing but run away desperately. Chongyun had to repay the restaurant with a month's worth of money from his savings. And, as an apology, he had to give Xiangling a protective talisman against evil that he hand-carved himself. But Xiangling didn't care about Chongyun's transgressions at all. On the contrary, he thought that person was the closest Chongyun they had ever seen.

character story 5

In reality, Chongyun's greatest wish is to fit in, but he is often forced to turn down invitations from others out of his need to control his Congenital Positivity. Of all things, what intrigues him the most is bathing in the hot springs. Bathing and "relaxing" in hot water? Just hearing it makes Chongyun more afraid than remembering Dragonspine's frozen lake. However, he also listened to everyone speak very well of the hot springs. They said that after bathing in them, they felt invigorated for the rest of the week, and that the warmer the water, the better. Chongyun still doesn't know if this is true or if people are just making fun of him. He would have dared to try it if it weren't for his Congenital Positivity problem. Once, Xingqiu asked him: "What would happen if one day you were cured of your affliction and rid the world of all evil spirits?" This simple question made Chongyun lose sleep. Due to his condition, he had missed out on many life experiences, but he has no regrets. He knew that although life is full of adversities, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. That was the answer that suited him the most. If the day came when he surpassed his Congenital Positivity, he would take a bath in the hot springs.

"Field Guide to Demons and Beasts"

The tomes that Chongyun's family has passed down from generation to generation detail every malevolent spirit they have subdued. From minor spirits to monstrous demons straight out of a horror tale, their varieties are dazzling. It was a story so terrifying that it inspired Chongyun to swear to rid the world of malevolent spirits. But for him, the inheritance of these books has also proved inconvenient. In addition to textual descriptions, the books contain illustrations of said malevolent spirits that carefully detail their unique characteristics, even if the artist is not particularly skilled. But Chongyun has never seen a malevolent spirit in his life. Reluctant to break from this artistic tradition, he racked his brains searching for a solution. Finally, he tried using his imagination to draw some peculiar images. Thus, the "Field Guide to Demons and Beasts" grew increasingly exotic. It's best not to pay too much attention to that seven-winged, five-legged chicken beast, or that half-fish, half-Hilichurl demon.

Vision

"Those other exorcists at least have the courtesy to wave their swords or stick on some talismans. You, on the other hand, sit there for a while and say that you're done, and that I should pay you. Who are you trying to kid?" When Chongyun began his career as an exorcist, his ability was repeatedly questioned. He immediately faced a major obstacle: it was much easier to prove that evil spirits were present than to prove that they were gone. Of course, he seemed like a charlatan, even compared to other "exorcists" who simply performed exotic moves. With all the skill in the world, but with no place to put it to use, viewed with skepticism, and forced to repress any passionate impulse... Very few people returned to apologize. Even so, Chongyun didn't go with the flow, nor did he use fancy moves to cover up the actual method of exorcism for him. Even if his condition interfered with the exorcism, Chongyun never considered giving up. One day he will become the greatest exorcist of Liyue, he will manage to control his Congenital Positivity, and rid the world of evil spirits. Perhaps it was this resolution that earned him the favor of the gods. And it is that, the Vision granted to Chongyun was Cryo instead of Pyro. Which of his goals the Vision responded to is a mystery.
