Kurapika is a calm and intelligent person, and has vast knowledge, saving the lives of his friends several times through his centralized and precise reasoning. Kurapika has proven himself to be a balanced fighter on numerous occasions. During the Hunter Exam story arc, he uses two greatswords as weapons. These, however, are broken during his duel against Hisoka at the end of the exam. In York Shin's story arc, he wears a set of chains materialized on his hand by his nen. When Kurapika becomes agitated or enraged, his eyes turn red, anger that is usually caused by his memories of the Genei Ryodan, a trait only possessed by all members of the Kuruta tribe. According to the Yorkshin arc, Kurapika trained himself to activate his scarlet eyes at will. In this state, he is able to utilize all of Nen's characteristics to their fullest potential. Kurapika is a balanced and intelligent individual, possessing vast knowledge. He is reticent; he doesn't open up to people easily and is quite critical. His distance from other people initially keeps him moral and balanced, but his heart has been poisoned with sadness and hatred. Having been traumatized by losing everyone he loved at the age of thirteen, Kurapika closes his heart to new people and continues to be introverted to stay focused on his goal. Although outwardly Kurapika claims he wants to become a Blacklist Hunter and his ultimate goal is to capture the band of thieves who massacred his family, his rage allows him to compromise his personal morality and delve deeper into the sordid side of society.

Kurapika has blonde hair and brown eyes. When Kurapika is altered his gaze takes on a bright scarlet hue. Kurapika's features are delicate, with large eyes adorned with long eyelashes, a slender body and short stature, his appearance is a little feminine, giving him a certain androgynous air.

clothes and accessories

Kurapika wears a blue tabard with orange details, but in York Shin changes it to a different model. His shoes are Chinese style in a dark tone. Currently in the manga, he has abandoned his typical Kuruta look and starts wearing suits and shirts. Kurapika also wears an earring decorated with a Ruby in his left ear, which is his trademark. After learning about Nen, he begins wearing dark contact lenses in order to hide his scarlet eyes.
