Mount Targon
Like any place of myth, Mount Targon is a beacon to dreamers, madmen and questors of adventure. A mountainous and sparsely inhabited region to the west of Shurima, Targon boasts the tallest peak in Runeterra. Located far from civilization, Mount Targon is all but impossible to reach, save by the most determined pilgrims, chasing some soul-deep yearning to reach its summit. Those hardy few who survive the arduous journey to the foot of the titanic mountain find a sky shimmering with celestial bodies; the sun and moons, but also constellations, planets, fiery comets that streak the darkness, and auspicious arrangements of stars. They return haunted and empty, or changed beyond all recognition. The people living at the mountain's base believe these to be aspects of long-vanished stellar beings, creatures powerful and ancient on a scale beyond human comprehension. However, Mount Targon is simply a way into the celestial realm, and it would be wrong to attribute much in the way of mortal sensibilities, morals or concerns to what lies beyond the mountain.Mount Targon is the mightiest peak in Runeterra, a towering peak of sun-baked rock amid a range of summits unmatched in scale anywhere else in the world. Located far from civilization, Mount Targon is utterly remote and all but impossible to reach save by the most determined seeker. Many legends cling to Mount Targon, and, like any place of myth, it is a beacon to dreamers, madmen and questors of adventure. Some of these brave souls attempt to scale the impossible mountain, perhaps seeking wisdom or enlightenment, perhaps chasing glory or some soul-deep yearning to witness its summit. The ascent is all but impossible, and those hardy few who somehow survive to reach the top almost never speak of what they have seen. Some return with a haunted, empty look in their eyes, others changed beyond all recognition, imbued by an aspect of unearthly, inhuman power with a destiny few mortals can comprehend.
Celestials
Among the first beings that came to be in the universe, they are alien in comparison to the physical and spiritual realms. These beings come in various forms. From the Aspects as representations of concepts and ideals, to the numerous beings such as Celestial Dragons that interact with the world of Runeterra with motives far beyond mortal understanding.A race of enigmatic beings wielding powers that are said to be godlike, Celestials are the universe's protectors and caretakers, seeding and influencing the tide of the world's past, present and future towards the greater good. Some interfere directly, as with the case of Soraka's crusade of healing and restoration, while others choose to contribute as a hidden hand, as is Bard's way to protect the multiverse from falling to destruction. Most of them are revered as powerful deities or guardians but they share the same mystery and bond with the heavenly firmaments.
Celestial Realm
Described as a brilliant city of gold and silver, Targon Prime is a realm beyond Runeterra where celestial beings known as Aspects and mythical creatures of the stars reside. Every generation or so, an Aspect will descend from Targon Prime to imbue mortals, whom they deem worthy, to become their vessel. It is a vast realm bathed in golden light at day and sparkling stars at night. In the rare event that a mortal reaches Targon’s peak, the heavens open before them in a dazzling display of cosmic aurorae. Few ever bear witness to that radiant sight, far above the cloudline and beneath the glittering stars, where it is said that timeless, godlike beings dwell in a wondrous city of gold and silver.
Runeterra
Composed of both the material and spirit realms, Runeterra is all that separates the celestial powers of creation from the abyssal threat of all undoing. This is a magical world unlike any other--inhabited by peoples both fierce and wondrous.
Vastaya
The Vastaya are a chimeric race of Runeterra that are the weaker magical descendants from enlightened mortals that took the power of the spirit realm into themselves known as the Vastayashai'rei. From the ferocious, bestial power of the Kiilash to the foxlike allure of the Vesani, vastaya can look considerably different from one another, but they all share animal and human characteristics.
Ottrani
Ottrani, just like many vastaya, have their physical appearance take inspiration from many types of animals. The appearance can go from human-like to animal-like with mountain goat, leopard, zebra, and horse features. Human-like ottrani have bare skin that ranges from purple to blue with stripes and markings. Equally, the animal-like ottrani have hair (or fur) with a similar color range. All ottrani have hooves for feet, with some ottrani also sporting horns and tails. The ottrani have noticeable sexual dimorphism, with males being larger and more muscular while females having a more slender body shape. Most extreme animal-like examples of the ottrani have be seen with males, while females tend to be more human-like. Horns, while not exclusive to ether sex, are more predominant on the males, with some able to grow large curled down horns.
Description
A wanderer from the celestial dimensions beyond Mount Targon, Soraka gave up her immortality to protect the mortal races from their own more violent instincts. She endeavors to spread the virtues of compassion and mercy to everyone she meets—even healing those who would wish harm upon her. And, for all Soraka has seen of this world's struggles, she still believes the people of Runeterra have yet to reach their full potential.
Story
As the Starchild and one celestial being, Soraka and the inhabitants of the celestial realm watch the mortal realm and regarded the fledgling races of Runeterra with growing concern. The guidance and fates that had been woven into the night sky often went unseen—or worse, were misinterpreted by their simple mortal minds, leading to chaos, uncertainty, and suffering. No longer able to merely watch, Soraka chose to descend to the mortal realm, determined to untangle the knots in the tapestry of the world. And so Soraka came to be, and set upon her journey to soothe the mortals she encountered. Soraka quickly learned the capacity for cruelty that the peoples of Runeterra possessed. Whether on the battlefields of inescapable conflicts, in the seedy underbellies of sprawling cities, or on the frontiers of the untamed wilderness beyond them, there seemed to be no end to the fighting, betrayal, and suffering Soraka witnessed. She watched, helpless, as mortals ignorantly broke the threads of destiny they could have woven together. Their lives were too short, she reasoned. They were simply unable to see the greater patterns, now lost. But as Soraka lived among them, as one of them, trying to repair what little of the damage she could... something incredible and wholly unforeseen happened. Soraka noticed a new, unintended design emerging—intertwined, and of a staggering complexity. Unintended and wild, the mortals were forging new and unknown futures for themselves. From the celestial realm above, it had seemed like pure chaos; but with her new perspective, and blessed by the stars to stand against the erosion of time, Soraka now beheld an almost perfect beauty. Just as mortals had the deepest capacity for cruelty, so too did they possess infinite potential for kindness, and inspiration to rival anything among the stars. Soraka realized her place was not to repair or replicate the celestial pattern. While a part of her craved the fixed, comforting destinies of the stars, she knew in her heart that static fates could not contain the unbridled, dynamic potential of mortality. And so her work took on renewed vigor, driven to unlock the untapped possibilities of all she met. Soraka sought now to inspire and guide rather than shepherd, to see what unblazed trails each mortal would discover for themselves in their brief, radiant moment.
Personality
Soraka is a very kind and humble individual, but she is also extremely protective and caring for those who follow her and who rely on her guidance. She is faithful to her cause in wanting to help those in need and always seeks to help those who seek help. Despite this, Soraka believes in free will above everything else. Although she offers guidance, the offered must accept being guided and healed for her to be capable of helping. She offers numerous paths to mortals, but only they may choose the way they will walk.
Appearance
Soraka is a celestial being slender of lilac skinned, long pale blonde hair with a single horn on the forehead, golden eyes and with goat-like legs. She wears simple wanderer outfits with a distinct palette of red, orange and some brown touches, including her cape. The most distinctive ornament on her attire is the Celestial Staff shaped like a moon at the tip. While having the appearance of the ottrani Soraka only took the form of one, with her one horn being a key distinction from the vastayans.
Powers, abilities and weapons
Celestial Physiology: As a celestial being, Soraka does not have a natural physical body and must create one to enter the physical realm. In this case, she chose the appearance of the ottrani tribe which she cares for, with her one horn the distinction between her and the vastaya. She also experiences reality in a different manner than mortals and has innate access to celestial magics to use for various purposes. Healing Magic: Soraka is able to physically heal individuals. However, doing this brings her pain, as the physical body she fashioned cannot withstand her celestial powers. Star Magic: As a celestial, Soraka is able to control celestial magic in the form of starcalls and celestial zones. Seer: As Soraka does not experience reality in linearity, she is able to predict possible futures for an individual, guiding them in what choices they can take.
