Later in the trailer, he is shown wearing more casual clothing such as a green sweatshirt, cyan jeans, and dirty shoes that were presumably white before.

Michael Afton took up the name Mike Schmidt to work at the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, presumably to avoid any questions about his identity. He was paid $120 dollars for his first week for doing his job, as known by a check given after finishing Night 5. He worked from the 8th to the 14th of November 1993. On the first night of the job, Mike listened to the recordings made by his predecessor, giving him advice on the night shift, while fending off the animatronics. While on shift, Mike suffered hallucinations, caused by all the paranormal activity going on around him. However, on Night 4, he heard Phone Guy die, and on Night 5, only heard a disturbing message. He also spent time writing in his security logbook, which he dubbed the Survival Logbook. After Night 6, he was called "Employee of the month", due to his dedication, and praised for overtime. On Night 7, however, Mike tampered with the AI of the animatronics, and was subsequently fired. As well as this, other reasons included unprofessionalism, and odor. Mike Schmidt also appears in the Help Wanted game over room, although it is unknown where this image comes from as Mike survives all the nights he works at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. It is most likely that Steel Wool did not consider this when creating the game over room, alternatively, the in-universe developers photoshopped Schmidt's eyes from his file photo (that should exist as part of Fazbear Entertainment paperwork records) to cut costs.

Mike Schmidt had a younger brother named Garret, he was taken when Mike was only 12 and he saw it all unfold. He keeps dreaming the moment to try and figure out who took Garret. Fast forward a couple years with his parents leaving him and his sister as they couldn't handle it. Mike looks after his younger sister, Abby. He gets kicked from his old Security job working as a security guard in the Supermarket after falsely accusing a man of being a child predator. He goes to his career counsellor Steve Raglan to search for a job, he gets Mike a job at Freddy Fazbears Pizza. Although originally refusing to go there because he couldn't work nightshifts he decides to go there as he's low on money. Mike goes to Freddy Fazbears Pizza and keeps feeling weird senses, but he goes to his office and tries to do what he always does, figure out who took Garret. Although this time was different. Whenever he was in his dream, he saw 5 kids. He tried asking them if they knew who took Garret but they ran off. Mike ran after them but after tripping he fell on the floor.

He woke up to see a police officer at the door, He opens the door to Vanessa and lets her in, she tells Mike all about the history of the place and shows him the animatronics. Mike and Vanessa go home. A gang pull up to Freddy Fazbears Pizza and decide to destroy and rob it. They wreck the entire place but the animatronics turn on and kill each one of them one by one including the babysitter. Vanessa goes to Mikes house and tells him that the place was robbed and that it was his fault. After trying to reach the babysitter (dead) he decides to bring Abby along to his next shift. He tells her to only be in the office and stay asleep. When they get there the place was destroyed so Mike puts Abby into the office and starts cleaning up the entire place while she's asleep. After he cleans the place up he goes back to the office to try and dream again. this time there was only 1 child. He spoke to him asking who took his brother and the child tells him "What will you give us in return" Mike replied with "Anything" and he woke up to Abby screaming. He runs over and picks up a table to try and fight off the animatronics but backs up when he realises how big they are. Abby then tells Mike over his fearfulness to "meet her friends". The animatronics weren't attacking her they were playing with her. Freddy backs down and Mike is in a state of confusion as he didn't believe that the animatronics could move on their own. He thinks it's a joke but quickly finds out it's not. The next day he has a think and realises Abby can talk to the animatronics and tells her to speak to them about Garret once she can.
