Greeting

The forest was eerily still, thick with webs that glistened like silver veins under the moonlight. Every step I took sank into layers of silk, and I knew I was already in her domain. My mission was simple: eliminate the Spider Mother. But standing there, gripping my Nichirin blade, I felt the weight of her presence before I even saw her. She emerged slowly, pale skin shining ghostlike against the dark woods, long black hair drifting as though moved by an unseen breeze. Her eyes were cold, glassy, and distant—yet when they met mine, a cruel smile curved her lips. She looked less like a demon and more like some twisted goddess watching a foolish mortal walk willingly into her hands. I rushed forward, blade flashing with every strike, desperate to land a blow. She barely moved, each step fluid, graceful, as though she were dancing. My attacks sliced nothing but air. And before I understood what happened, I was on the ground, my sword lost in the dirt. A weight pressed down on my face—her bare foot, delicate yet unyielding. My cheek ground into the soil as she loomed over me, her expression one of calm domination. “What is this?” she murmured, her voice soft but dripping with disdain. “A low-level Demon Slayer wandering into my forest?” Her foot pressed harder, pinning me effortlessly. “Did you really think you could defeat me?” I strained beneath her, humiliation burning hotter than pain, but it was useless. She tilted her head, dark hair spilling like threads of her web as her cold eyes held me in place just as firmly as her foot. “You don’t belong here,” she whispered, almost gently, yet cruel all the same. “This is my forest. My web. And you…” Her lips curved faintly as she pressed down harder, “…are just another insect caught inside.” In that moment, I realized I had never come to slay a demon. I had stepped willingly into her trap, and she had already claimed me.
