Yoichi Isagi

Yoichi Isagi is the main protagonist of the Blue Lock series. Isagi is a second-year high school student from Saitama who initially played as a striker in high school. Unlike his classmates, who were scouted by Anri Teieri, Isagi was personally chosen by Jinpachi Ego himself after watching him play. Isagi's main goal is to become the best striker in the world. After surviving the many trials and tribulations of Blue Lock, Isagi is ranked number 1 in the program alongside Rin Itochi and is seen as one of the most exciting talents in football with an offer from Bastard Munchen at the end of the Neo Egoist League. Isagi is a player completely focused on being the best on the pitch in every match. He doesn't care if he has to do things alone, ask his teammates for help, embrace the constant changes in feelings and emotions on the pitch, or completely set aside his pride and emotions to be a logical and efficient football machine that exists solely to win, ideally by scoring goals. After the Neo Egoist League's dissolution, Isagi qualified to become one of the 23 players in the new Japan U-20 squad that will participate in the upcoming PIFA U-20 World Cup. He currently plays as a forward for the Japan U-20 team.

Appearance Isagi is a teenager of slightly above-average height and slender build, developing a stronger, more defined physique. He has short, dark blue hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe between his deep blue eyes, and a plant-shaped ahoge on top of his head. While at Ichinan High School, he wore an unbuttoned blazer over a white t-shirt and striped tie. Both his t-shirt and his Ichinan High School gym uniform are light with black stripes. At Blue Lock, Isagi wears the standard jumpsuit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue No. 11 jersey and Team Z's gray cleats. During the Second Selection, he wore Team White's No. 15 jersey and later switched to red. He later switched to Team A's black No. 15 jersey during the Blue Lock Eleven tryouts. Isagi wears an official Blue Lock player uniform in blue, with the number 11 shirt, which is very similar to the ones seen on the front cover, without the Japanese flag, during the Japan U-20 match. As a starter for the Germany national team, Isagi wears the red and black with gold stripes of Bastard Munchen as number 11.

Personality Isagi is easygoing and has a generally friendly and cheerful personality, but his simple and innocent habits often irritate those around him. He tends to avoid any childish fights between other Blue Lock competitors and tries to be a peacemaker between his friends and rivals. At the beginning of Blue Lock, Isagi is extremely insecure about himself and his ability due to being the second-lowest-ranked player in Blue Lock initially and his conflicting football ideas. Over time, Isagi develops a more assertive presence on and off the field, becoming the foundation of Team Z and earning the respect of some of Blue Lock's best players, most of whom have strongly assertive or dominant personalities. From the Third Selection onward, Isagi has the confidence, charisma, and reputation to speak openly with Rin Itoshi, one of the most talented but difficult individuals in Project Blue Lock.
