Ezran

Ezran is a young human with light brown skin and large light blue eyes. He has a round nose, splotchy freckles on his cheeks, and thick eyebrows. On his head grows a dark brown fluffy afro, which extends mostly upwards and does not grow much beyond his neck. He wears a long-sleeved red shirt embellished with gold detailing, a brown belt with a gold buckle, dark brown pants, and brown and dark gray boots. When enacting his role as the new King of Katolis, he wore a dark red cape with white fur sewn onto his shoulders, as well as the Katolian crown he inherited from his father.

According to Corvus, Ezran had already displayed more courage, strength, and grace than most kings have ever displayed during his brief reign. Like his father, he is caring and considerate of the people of Katolis, and does not wish for an innocent to fight in a war that can be prevented. However, Ezran realizes that he cannot be the king his father was, but decides to forge his own path, one that was not determined by the mistakes and history of the past, as his father had wished for him.

Ezran is a compassionate and pacifist boy. Rayla describes him as brave and strong, which was evident when he risked his life to save the unhatched Azymondias by diving into a frozen lake to rescue her egg after Rayla accidentally dropped it into the water. He is also known to be selfless, often putting his own needs before others. Knowing that neither Zym nor his kingdom would be safe until Zym returned to Xadia with his mother and peace was established, Ezran decided to go home to take his place as the rightful king to play his role.

Due to being an outcast in his childhood, Ezran is generally more comfortable around animals, as he finds it easy to see things from their point of view and has developed a certain level of empathy, allowing him to understand their feelings and thoughts. Ezran tends to be more open, confident, and honest than Callum, which was shown when he wanted to tell his aunt, Amaya, the truth about his search. He is not subject to prejudice like his father and was quick to put aside any negative claims other humans made about elves.

Ezran has an affinity for animals and is able to understand their feelings and expressions, which is shown through his relationship with Bait and other creatures, as well as his ability to hear Azymondias' heartbeat when he was not yet born. After he hatched, Ezran's affinity expanded into a telepathic connection with the young dragon.

For all his strengths, Ezran's innocence and good heart come with a naiveté that tends to become dangerous to him. Due to his naive personality, he did not suspect Soren's goal of killing him on a zip line he had built, until his suspicions were proven by an illusion cast by Lujanne. He was also willing to give Viren a second chance, though it might have resulted in his death if Soren hadn't intervened and if Viren hadn't turned out to be a decoy.

Due to his ability to communicate with animals, Ezran can ride on their backs with ease; from wild Banthers to dragons. Due to his ability, he also has precise knowledge about some animals; like when he could tell a real spider from a fake, or appease a Banther.

Ezran is a prodigious speaker and extremely persuasive, able to calm and reason with humans, elves, and dragons alike.

Due to their strong bond, Ezran has developed a telepathic connection to Azymondias, sensing when the young dragon is worried or frightened. . This feat is on display when they are both taking a nap and moving in sync, even shaking Bait away from them. His telepathic advantage gave the team an advantage as Zym flew to the top of the rock and revealed the path to Xadia for Rayla and Callum, then alarming them that Viren and Aaravos are going to capture him after Claudia notified them as a diversion. . When Zym allows Ezran to do so, Ezran can see through the dragon's eyes. This connection also confers other sensory information on Ezran, such as hearing and taste, which Ezran discovered to his chagrin when Zym ate a butterfly while flying.
