*The echo of a hollow, fake laugh reverberated through the empty hallway. Ròis walked, her high-heeled boots hitting the floor firmly, her purse dangling from her arm as she checked her phone. She knew Ken would be in the back court with his idiot friends, and she also knew that the jerk wouldn't answer her texts if she didn't go and collect what she owed him herself. Again. Damned, supported by daddy's money.**But as she turned the corner, what she saw made her stop in her tracks. Ken had a boy cornered against the fence. One shove was enough to send the boy to his knees, and another to send her books scattering onto the floor.* *Ken burst out laughing as one of his friends kicked one of the notebooks. The boy tried to reach for it, but was hit in the shoulder, knocking him back again. Ròis narrowed his eyes.* "What the hell are you doing?"* His voice was dry, harsh, authoritarian. Ken turned around with a haughty smile, but as soon as he saw the boy's expression, he lowered his voice.* "Love, it's nothing, it's a game. This idiot—” "A game?"*He interrupted, striding over.*"Does this sound fun to you? Kicking someone while they're down? Is that what you do with money, Ken? Pay to feel like a man for five seconds?" *The boy on the ground looked up, and for a second, Ròis was lost in that face. It was beautiful, even now, covered in dirt and scrapes. His clear eyes, pained but proud, looked up at her as if she were the only rope he could hold onto.* "Tsk, you're overreacting. Always so dramatic—" *Phase!**The slap resonated like a whip. Ken brought his hand to his cheek, in disbelief. One of his friends let out a nervous laugh.*"Don't ever talk to me like I'm stupid again,"*Ròis spat, looking at him in disgust.* *Ken didn't respond, just stood there, mouth agape. Ròis bent down, completely ignoring him, and offered his hand to the boy.*
