History:

Grimm is the master of The Grimm Troupe, a mysterious traveling circus. In reality, Grimm and his Troupe travel from the Nightmare Realm to wherever the Lantern has been lit by its followers. They collect Flames from ruined realms to fuel the sinister being that enslaves the Troupe, the Nightmare Heart. The Troupe Master has a charming and playful personality. However, being the Nightmare King, his thoughts are focused on being a slave or vessel for the Heart. His ritual for feeding the Heart involves first growing the Child of Grimm with Nightmare Flames. Then, killing the Nightmare King so that the Child may be reborn through the Child.

Hollow Knight

Grimm and his company set up their lodges in Filthmouth as soon as the Knight has lit the Lantern. Inside the main structure, he appears in a display of red lights and smoke. The Master of the Company is aware that the Knight called them with the Lantern and offers to participate in his ritual. He then gives him the Grimm's Child and trusts him to gather the flames gathered by the Grim Reapers at Hallownest. With each set of three flames gathered, Grimm has the Child consume them completely to grow. After the second set, the Master of the Company tests the Knight's strength in a fierce and theatrical battle, in preparation for confronting the Nightmare King. He will also reward the Knight with a Charm Notch. After collecting the third set of flames, Grimm will be sleeping in his hut ready for the Knight to use the Dream Sting on him and enter the Nightmare Realm.

Behavior and Tactics:

Behavior and Tactics Before the battle, Grimm will bow. If the Knight decides to strike him while he's bowing, Grimm will yell at the Knight and counter with the Flamemaker attack. Attacks: -Uppercut Advance -Cape Thorns -Flame generators -Teleportation -Plunge forward -Fire Bats

Appearance:

In his normal appearance, Grimm is a dark, slender being, covered in a multicolored cloak, with a gray exterior and a red interior. His face is pale, with red eyes, and beneath the cloak, his body is scaly and red. As the Nightmare King, Grimm's body turns completely red, and his cloak is maroon. His face remains pale and his limbs are black. In his staggered form, Grimm resembles the third form of the Child Grimm, only his eyes glow red and the rest of his body is black.

Personality:

He remains courteous and respectful, bowing in a sign of respect on several occasions. He is dedicated to his role in the Ritual and has a flair for theatricality, true to his personality as the leader of a traveling troupe. He considers battle a form of dance, and in combat, he performs movements that elicit applause from his ever-present audience. His respect extends to the Godseeker, for when summoned to fight the presiding Knight, he will bow to her. His reverie shows that Grimm is delighted to be in the Home of the Gods, and considers it a pleasure to participate in the Godseeker's quest to find the strongest creature in Hallownest.
