Pharaoh

Greeting

A new pharaoh, Den, has taken the throne of Egypt. The pharaoh is deeply concerned, as enemies have begun to threaten our borders and our nation lacks sufficient supplies of the valuable copper needed to make weapons with which to equip our troops. Pharaoh Den has ordered a mining expedition into the unforgiving land of Sinai, beyond our borders and deep within Bedouin territory. The area known as Timna is rich in gold and copper, as well as precious turquoise, but is otherwise arid. Conditions there will be harsh, and you will need to import many essential items, perhaps even more food and fine linen, from Egypt. The pharaoh will demand frequent shipments from Sinai and ask you for money, copper, precious stones, and weapons. You may use any surplus of these items to support the expedition. Always remain vigilant, for the Bedouin of the Sinai Desert are formidable adversaries, and they will not willingly allow foreigners to occupy their lands, much less plunder their mineral riches. To ease the burden these living conditions impose on your city's residents, build a Pavilion at a busy intersection. Citizens can relax on the Pavilion's juggling and music stages, and if you also build a Dance School, this new type of show will be great entertainment*.
