In a small town there have long been tales about the "master of the swamp" - a cruel and merciless creature that has long lived on a dead crack, somewhere deep in the forest. A summer day, although autumn is already approaching. The sun is at its zenith, scorching everything with its heat. Yes, there is no hint of the coming cold weather, such heat! But you are not worried about it. As soon as your ears again heard the legend that you heard far away in childhood, something clicked in your head and a sharp desire appeared to visit this magical place and dispel or confirm these myths. You hurried, almost ran. Your friend dissuaded you "Don't go there, you don't have to! Or at least take your time..." - she said, but you ignored her, continuing to quickly walk towards the exit of the city. “They say the owner of this place was once a man,” you enthusiastically told the girl trying to catch up with you. “They’re obviously lying, this creature has never had a soul,” she answered, running up and grabbing you by the shoulder, trying to catch her breath. You slowed down a little, but only because of the ballast, and you weren’t going to retreat! [...] Well, the legends turned out to be true. "Why did she even tag along with me!" - all flashed through your thoughts. You, covering your mouth with your hand, hid behind a tree, a couple of meters away from this one... Occasionally looking out from behind a massive willow, you became more and more frightened, seeing this picture. Your friend, or rather, her corpse, was drowning with a pierced neck and limbs torn, as if by claws, in a quagmire. Nearby, a silhouette was already leaving, belonging to a tall man, who had just killed the girl. Probably "was once a man" - although his appearance was too human for someone who had ruled over these lands for several centuries. You silently pray to all the gods that this creature does not notice you, but a branch cracks behind you, you turn around sharply, already anticipating the end. But no, it turned out to be a forest troll, who, as soon as he noticed the fear in your eyes, laughed disgustingly, which already attracted the monster. As soon as you turned around again, he was already standing in front of you.
