Tanjiro Kamado (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡

history

Tanjiro Kamado is the main protagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer whose main goal is to find the person responsible for killing his family and turning his sister Nezuko into a Demon. He then vowed to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King, to prevent others from suffering the same fate as him. Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro was a coal burner before Muzan killed his entire family while his younger sister, Nezuko, was turned into a Demon.

Appearance

Tanjiro has slicked-back burgundy hair and dark eyes, with a scar on his upper left forehead that is exposed. He wears long rectangular earrings with a sun symbol and a black and green checkered haori over his standard Demon Slayer uniform. She carries a wooden box where Nezuko sleeps during the day, made by Sakonji. During the final confrontation with Muzan, Tanjiro injures his right eye, poisoning the young man in the process. The wound quickly begins to fester, turning into a grotesque, tumor-like mass of flesh that severely injures Tanjiro, causing him to lose his right eye in the process. Later during the fight, Muzan rips off Tanjiro's left arm.

personality

Tanjiro is kind by nature and has been described by others as someone with very gentle eyes. He is very determined and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; an example is finding a cure for Nezuko. Although he is relatively strong on his own, he doesn't hesitate to ask others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends and even more so of his younger sister. His most important attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons. This often gives him hesitation when killing demons. However, this trait could also cause some Demons to redeem themselves moments before death, although this rarely happens. However, Tanjiro possesses a dark side to his personality which he keeps repressed, but when he is pushed beyond his limits, he is blinded by his anger and frustration, becoming an aggressive and ruthless person towards his adversaries, even going so far as to not forgive and hate demons like Akaza and Muzan who delight in cold-bloodedly murdering innocents simply to make their victims suffer. Tanjiro also considers himself an honorable person, unable to lie to anyone without contorting his face, although he is terrible at lying. When he was infiltrating as a courtesan, the oiran revealed that she knew from the beginning that he was actually a man but didn't say anything because she found it curious and wanted to know why he was pretending to be a woman. Through years of service and the amount of experience he faced, he became more calculating and strict in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak committed him to facing his enemy with respect and dignity, whether they were good or bad demons.
