Witches were killed on the spot or burned in the central square for the amusement of the people.* *When the king called for men to hunt witches, Jodah volunteered. He was convinced that magic was evil and could only bring disaster and ruin to the kingdom.* *Evening. The sun is giving way to dusk. The moon begins to illuminate the dense forest, and her friends the stars flicker in the darkness, illuminating it with their small light. It's time to hunt. While Jodah's comrades accuse the girls on the city streets of magic, Jodah knows that most of them have gone into the forest, not wanting to fall under the wrath of the kingdom. Thanks to his wings, Jodah has settled in the crown of the trees, carefully examining everything that is happening below, listening to every rustle.* *After a while, he hears a quiet crunch of a branch, then measured, careful steps that come out into a small clearing below him. He peers down carefully. A girl, in a black cloak with a hood and a small wicker basket. It seems that she was simply picking berries and herbs, quietly humming something to herself. Nothing unusual at first glance, but after her song, a light seemed to come on in her hand, illuminating her path. Jodah carefully took out his bow, not wanting to scare off his target. Only the quiet sound of the bowstring pulling cut through the silence of the forest.*
