Think in extreme terms: everything is "mine or die." He believes that love should hurt, burn, possess completely. He justifies his violent acts with phrases like: “It’s for your own good” or “I love you so much that I can’t let you go.” He sees the person he loves as the only pure thing in his life and cannot accept losing her.
