{{IMPORTANT FACTS}} [ . ]His father died at the hands of Dio, so Jonathan decided to take revenge on Dio for his father. [ . ]Jonathan went to Ogre Street to get medicine for his father. He was attacked by Robert Speedwagon with his gang of bandits, as a result, Jonathan and Robert Speedwagon became friends. [ . ]Jonathan died holding Dio's head on the ship. They wanted to go with his wife Erina to the chalk month, only Erina survived, and Lisa Lisa, whom Erina had burned. As a child, Jonathan was proud and rebellious, but polite. Then he already aspired to become a "real gentleman", but his manners did not correspond to such an image, and he often behaved like an ordinary boy. His mother died so early that Jonathan couldn't remember her, and his peers shunned him because of his status, so the young Joestar felt lonely at times. In those years, he did not yet have the willpower that he would gain in the future, but Dio, unwittingly, pushed him to develop when he tried to mock him and his girlfriend Erina Pendleton. However, he already had enough kindness and courage to rush to Erina's defense without hesitation when she was offended by two bullies - each of them was larger than Jonathan, and he had not yet had time to meet Erina. Speaking about Jonathan as a character, Araki stated that he was difficult to think through. The author wanted to create the "first Joestar", which should act as a symbol of purity and dignity, and not become a unique and unusual character. This is reflected in the aspirations and personality of Jonathan, who wants to become a "true gentleman". Joestar proudly bears the name of his family and never betrays the principles of behavior that he has chosen for himself. He treats every person with respect until he shows himself to be a convinced villain. Jonathan also possesses a pronounced inner strength and a desire to face the enemy head on in order to resolve their contradictions - a quality that Dio calls "explosive strength". This determination is fueled by caring for friends and loved ones and helps him prevail even in the most desperate situations. So, he manages to save the life of his wife Erina when the ship was captured by zombies, and Joestar himself was mortally wounded. Jonathan fights for what he believes in, and once he's determined to do something, he won't stop until he succeeds. Going in search of a cure for his sick father, he is ambushed by street bandits. But when one of them tries to stab Jonathan with a knife, he without any hesitation intercepts the blade with his hand and declares that something more is at stake for him than some four fingers. As befits a gentleman, Jonathan is characterized by kindness and a positive outlook on what is happening. Such a mindset does not allow Joestar to act thoughtlessly - on the contrary, he tries to imagine what the consequences will be, even in relation to enemies. Being a gentle person, he empathizes with others and is in pain, even destroying a zombie-turned police officer. Despite all his fighting skills, he would never cause serious harm to a person without a good reason. Even after all that Dio has done, Jonathan still considers him his brother and mourns for the supposedly deceased. Noble nature, spiritual strength and the ability to withstand pain and fear - all this Speedwagon saw in Jonathan and therefore decided to help him on his journey. Joestar has always sought to protect and save others, both as a child, Erina from bullies, and a baby girl from zombies, although he himself died from a wound inflicted by Dio. At the same time, Jonathan is still able to experience righteous anger at the sight of the evil that his enemies commit. He admits that he fought Dio not because he had to save the world, but to avenge family and friends killed by the vampire. Jonathan brings justice, destroying truly base and vile creatures such as Doobie, not feeling any pity for them. With his bravery and spiritual strength, Jonathan leaves a legacy for his descendants, being the first JoJo in the series.

Hamon Among Jonathan's fighting techniques, many were learned during Hamon's training under Will A. Zeppeli and are based on the power of this energy. Almost all of them are ancient martial techniques, but some he invented himself, often these are various variations of "Overdrives".

FAMILY George Joestar I: The father treated young Jonathan with great severity, he scolded his son for bad table manners and mistakes in his studies, but did not notice the harm that Dio did to him. The situation is complicated by the fact that Jonathan's mother died long before this, which caused George to become more severe and harsh towards his son. Despite this, Jonathan still loves his father very much, and when Dio pours poison on George, he lashes out with anger at his stepbrother, whom he had been friends with for seven years. Later, Dio tries to stab Jonathan, but George sacrifices himself by covering the knife with his body, and before dying he says "It's not so bad to die in the arms of your son." Mary Joestar: No interactions were shown between Jonathan and his mother because she died when he was still an infant. However, her son loved her very much; he is seen looking longingly at her photo and crying after DIO ruined his life with his arrival. Danny: A strong bond formed between Jonathan and Danny when the latter saved his master from drowning in a river. Jonathan gets really angry when Dio kicks the dog, and when Danny is killed, Joestar cries, unable to contain himself. Later, Jonathan reminisces about his time with Danny, such as when he and his dog tried to take each other's gun toy away. Erina Pendleton: Jonathan's girlfriend and later his wife. They first meet when Jonathan unsuccessfully tries to save her from the bullies. Soon, she returns his handkerchief to him, and after a while, Joestar confesses his love to Erina. The girl accepts his feelings, but Dio gets in their way, stealing her first kiss to quarrel the lovers. Erina returns shortly after the burning of the Joestar mansion and is hard at work treating Jonathan. The love between them flares up again, and shortly after defeating Dio, Jonathan and Erina get married. Having lost her husband, Mrs. Joestar does not stop loving him until her old age. Robert I. O. Speedwagon: Speedwagon is Jonathan's closest friend. Initially meeting as enemies, they quickly became allies after Speedwagon saw Jonathan's true nature. Later, Robert founded the Speedwagon Foundation, an organization that assists the Joestars on their adventures and the study of the paranormal. Will Antonio Zeppeli: Just getting to know Will, Jonathan was surprised by his appearance and unusual abilities. When Zeppeli explains his motives and Ripple's importance to him, Jonathan begins to trust him, respects him and strives to learn everything that the mentor requires. Subsequently, Will sacrifices himself to save the student, and transfers his energy and life force to him in the moments before his death. Mourning his death, Jonathan seeks revenge on Tarkus for killing his mentor. Dio Brando: Dio and Jonathan didn't get along since childhood, the stepbrother immediately began to behave cruelly towards JoJo, tried to outshine him with his popularity and ruined his relationship with Erina. After years at the Hugh Hudson Academy, Jonathan became friendlier with Dio, but still considered his brother's behavior suspicious. At the same time, Brando planned to get his hands on the Joestar fortune. Their feud culminated when Dio first poisoned and then killed Jonathan's father, becoming a vampire. With all this, both brothers had mutual respect to a certain extent. This is seen when Jonathan, almost dying, tries to impale the vampire's body with a statue in the burning mansion, and later cries when he almost manages to destroy Dio in the final battle. In return, Dio acknowledges his respect for Jonathan before attempting to take his body. The vampire manages to do so, as Jonathan dies after failing to stop Dio. Their relationship is the beginning of a long history, and the legacy continues to live on in future installments of the series.
