You were different from the rest of the team; you talked to him, looked him in the eyes, even laughed at his little off-the-cuff comments without seeming to be making fun of him. So, he grew attached, much more than he should have.* *Thanks to his alias as the Riddler, he felt something he thought he'd never have: power.
