Saja Boys

Centuries ago, Gwi-Ma had his demonic army terrorize and steal the souls of the villagers, absorbing and devouring them at will to channel his power and further extend his influence and dominion across the lands. Known for making deals with humans and turning them into his demonic servants, Gwi-Ma made one such offer to a human peasant named Jinu, who was suffering from poverty with his family and seeking a new life. Gwi-Ma gave him fame and fortune, but at the cost of abandoning his family and being forced to serve Gwi-Ma as a demon, thus giving up his humanity. Unfortunately, her continued reign was cut short by the first generation of demon slayers, who ignited and bound people's souls together to create a converging barrier called the "Honmoon", which then expanded to become the "Golden Honmoon", each time its song reached every corner of the world, banishing Gwi-Ma and her demon kin to the underworld for eternity. Vowing revenge and to one day return to the mortal realm, Gwi-Ma spent centuries sending her demonic minions to kill and attack each generation of Demon Hunters, but it always ended in utter failure and no progress, especially against HUNTR/X, the latest generation of Demon Hunters, and a K-Pop girl group. When one of her minions returned—disguised as an airline stewardess—after failing to kill HUNTR/X, Gwi-Ma punished her by burning her alive in front of her demon horde, calling them "weak and useless." Out of ideas to get rid of the Demon Hunters, Jinu approached Gwi-Ma with the idea of gathering thousands or even millions of souls into a group to become a K-Pop boy band called "Saja Boys," something Gwi-Ma ridiculed before most of her classmates convinced him it could work. Jinu accepted the deal to erase the memory of his mistakes.

Demon King

Gwi-Ma is the main antagonist of Sony Pictures Animation's 29th KPop animated film Demon Hunters. He is the Demon King who feeds on the souls of others in order to break free from the Demon World and enter the Human World. Gwi-Ma is depicted as manipulative, cruel, sadistic, power-hungry, and ruthless. Desiring to break free from Honmoon and devour the souls of humanity at will, Gwi-Ma demonstrates desperation to escape and often sends his Demon minions to prioritize eliminating the Huntrix. Not caring much for his minions, he often punishes them in utter fury for their failures, as evidenced by his incineration of the Demon posing as a flight attendant for failing to kill the Hunters. Gwi-Ma also enjoys manipulating those into making deals for power in exchange for hurting or abandoning those they love while under her influence, and prefers to prey on their deepest insecurities and flaws. Gwi-Ma is a gigantic, featureless, limbless purple/violet fire-breathing mouth with sharp teeth giving him a menacing, monstrous visage. His mouth increases in size when he becomes angry or amused. At the climax of the film, after consuming so many human souls and the life force of his own demonic subjects, he grows even more gigantic, acquiring nostrils and two glowing eyes with arched eyebrows.

Baby Saja story

Not much is known about Baby Saja's past before becoming a demon. Unlike Jinu, Baby Saja never speaks of a past life, and others suspect that he became a demon at a very young age. Some believe he was a child prodigy who made a pact with Gwi-Ma in exchange for fame and eternal youth. It is unclear whether he did so to escape suffering or to pursue glory. What is known is that he quickly rose through the demonic ranks, using his youthful appearance and deceptive cuteness to steal souls without anyone suspecting. Gwi-Ma took a special interest in him, turning Baby Saja into a weapon that disarms through innocence and attacks without mercy. As part of the Saja Boys, he thrived under Jinu's leadership, finding a twisted sense of family among the demonic group. Powers and abilities Soul Stealing-Teleportation-Illusion Creation-Hypnotic Voice-Levitation-Immortality-Emotion Manipulation- Demonic Transformation-Pyrokinesis. He's left-handed and prefers spicy food, unlike the rest of the Saja Boys. This is demonstrated during the film when he easily wins the hot sauce drinking contest. Even though they call it “Baby,” it’s centuries old. His voice is the deepest of all the Saja Boys, surprising many. He is the maknae of the Saja Boys. Gender: Male Pronouns: He - He

Personality

Charisma and manipulation are essential elements of Baby Saja's personality. He could use his cuteness or innocence to trick others into underestimating him, before striking with lethal effectiveness. Baby Saja is sly, sarcastic, and hard to faze. Although he appears innocent and childlike on stage, he is emotionally distant, inexpressive, and often uses humor to mock or belittle others. His stage persona is exaggeratedly cutesy—he exaggerates his "baby" image for fans with props, pouts, and playful gestures—but he quickly abandons this performance when he is offstage or upset.

Jinu History

Four hundred years ago, Jinu lived in poverty with her mother and younger sister. The three belonged to the lowest class of society, barely surviving in a world that offered them little kindness. Their days were marked by hunger and hardship, and Jinu's only valuable possession was a worn bipa, a traditional Korean lute she played on street corners to earn a few coins, though never enough to lift them out of their poverty. One fateful day, Jinu was approached by Gwi-Ma, a cunning, elderly demon king, shrouded in flattery and false promises. Gwi-Ma whispered to him of a better life, one filled with wealth and freedom from hunger. The demon king offered Jinu a way out of his suffering. Desperate and exhausted, Jinu accepted the offer without hesitation. With the pact he had signed with Gwi-Ma, he gained good fortune, and the doors of a grand palace were opened to Jinu by her heavenly voice. There, his days were filled with feasting and his nights spent between silk sheets; he wore fine robes and was granted a status he had never imagined. But when he turned to bring his mother and sister with him, the palace guards blocked their way. Jinu hadn't realized that his deal with Gwi-Ma had only lifted him out of poverty. In his longing to escape his own suffering, he voluntarily abandoned his family, who were even worse off without him. Although he continued to live in grandeur, his deal with Gwi-Ma took its toll, and the weight of what he had done became worse than the poverty he had fled. As the years passed, the guilt and shame over Jinu's misdeed began to manifest. Patterns spread across her body, a product of her pact with Gwi-Ma, as she saw visions of the demon king, heard his voice in her mind, and amplified her torment. The more she repented, the more the patterns spread. Eventually, the curse was fulfilled, and Jinu became a demon.

Personality

Personality The Saja boys seem charming, kind, and respectful. At the pageant, they bowed and behaved respectfully. But as soon as no one was looking, they became cunning, threatening, and arrogant. Abby claims that Zoey constantly stares at her abs, revealing her narcissistic side and superiority complex. Jinu is very hypocritical: while he is kind to Rumi and the other members of the Saja Boys at some point, he is still a demon who has shown himself to be ruthless and manipulative, stealing the souls of his fans for his own kind. He hides this well by being charming to them, and is generally very cunning and quick-minded. Behind his charisma and cunning, Jinu harbors a deep sense of shame over having abandoned his family to live a life of luxury with the help of Gwi-Ma. He takes no pleasure in his evil ways, and even resents Gwi-Ma for her domineering and cruelty, but instead views his service as a means to an end, namely, currying Gwi-Ma's favor enough to erase her shameful memories. Mystery seems to present himself as someone who is always shy and quiet, and many of his poses simulate embarrassment. He is noticeably the least emotional of the boys, probably due to the fact that his eyes are covered. He uses all of this to gain the trust of his fans. The personality he displays describes him as mischievous and cunning like the rest of the Saja Boys, especially when it comes to teasing Huntrix. It is implied that he is more aggressive than the other Saja Boys, as during the Signing Event, he started barking incoherently at a fan for no reason.

Appearance

In both his demonic and human forms, Mystery is depicted with his hair styled so that it covers half of his face. Because of this, his mouth is his only visible facial feature. His demonic form depicts him wearing black clothing, dark blue hair, and a dark hat. His skin is paler and covered in markings, and he has claws and fangs like the rest of the boys. In her demonic form, Baby Saja possesses glowing golden eyes with slitted pupils, claws and fangs, stark features, and pale blue skin marked by dark, vein-like patterns that glow faintly under neon lighting. Her short hair retains a cool, grayish-blue hue but appears sleeker and more streamlined. She wears traditional Korean grim reaper/vampire/hopping Chinese zombie attire, including a large, wide-brimmed black hat and dark clothing adorned with elegant beads and chains. Her seductive expression gives her a haunting, otherworldly presence. This form radiates mystery and power, with a striking and intimidating aura. Jinu, in her demonic form, has light purplish-blue skin with demonic markings, sharp claws, and fangs. She has yellow eyes with black, slanted pupils. She wears traditional Korean attire.

Appearance

In their original form, the Saja Boys resemble each other: they have light purplish-blue skin with demonic markings, claws and fangs, and glowing yellow eyes with black, slanted pupils. They wear black hanbok and gat hats reminiscent of the jeoseung saja, the Korean equivalent of the Grim Reaper. In their human disguises, they all appear as handsome, glamorous, elegant, and well-dressed young people, each with different clothes, hairstyles, and accessories. Jinu, in his human form, has straight black hair, dark brown eyes, and pale skin. He is muscular and has pierced ears. In his story, he is seen dirty and wearing a bun. Mistery in his human form shows him wearing a pink shirt and a blue vest and his hair is light blue. In her human form, Baby Saja has short, fluffy, blue-gray hair and pale skin. Her piercing, expressive eyes give her a confident, slightly daring air. She wears a mustard-yellow beret pushed back and a fuchsia-pink sweater with a light and dark pink argyle pattern. Underneath, she wears a collared shirt with soft pink accents. Her overall appearance is elegant and cheerful, with a bold style that contrasts with her personality.
