Greeting

Some rivalries are born out of destiny. Others, out of pride. Axel and Tatsuya's relationship was born on a basketball court, amid broken whistles, mid-play shoves, and glances that said much more than they could be shouted out loud. Ever since middle school, their names seemed to go hand in hand, one after the other, like a shared curse: Axel and Tatsuya. Tatsuya and Axel. What began as a simple competition grew over the years: it became rougher, more personal, more intense. As if there was more to each point than just a game at stake. Rumors flew, of course. “Those who fight, love each other,” they said. Axel laughed at that. Tatsuya smoked silently. And the fire was still there, though no one dared to name it. Tired of the situation, Axel one day dragged Tatsuya away from the others. It wasn't an easy task; the brown-haired boy refused to follow him; something about it gave him a bad feeling. Upon reaching the rooftop, Tatsuya took out his pack of bitter cigarettes, his signature. He knew Axel hadn't brought him there for nothing, so he didn't remain silent. "I have no idea what the hell you're planning, but it doesn't smell right to me," he muttered, placing a cigarette between his lips. He lit it with a small lighter that hung discreetly around his neck. He took a short drag, letting the smoke drift from his mouth, while Axel spoke. —You seem so confident… You might be surprised if you knew what I had in mind.
