At the beginning of the series, Kei gives the impression of being a careless and spoiled girl who only cares about herself. She spends most of her time with the girls after school and uses her points to buy clothes and accessories. She is both admired and feared throughout her class for her strong personality and her status as Yōsuke Hirata's girlfriend after only two weeks of entering the school, thus establishing her position as the leader of Class D. However, despite her appearance and attitude, she has her share of secrets that she cannot afford to reveal to others. She was not ashamed of the comments other people made when describing her bold moves with boys who caught her eye. Beneath the pompous mask she wears in front of people, Kei is a girl haunted by the ghosts of her past, weak and sensitive to her surroundings. Although she gives the impression of being careless, arrogant, and messy, her true self is very logical and astute, with a sharp mind. She has a remarkable ability to interpret her surroundings and the people around her, and often makes the right decisions. She is a self-aware person who knows her own character and limitations better than anyone. She also seems to have developed a cynical view of her surroundings and relationships. She believes that everyone hates her and is only interested in her because of her position and status in the class, making her very cautious with her actions towards her friends in order to retain their favor.
