facts

Like most of his incarnations, the 2003 version of Raphael speaks with a Brooklyn accent and accompanying slang. "Banzai" is Raphael's favorite phrase. Raphael is the first turtle to cry in the series when Leonardo was badly injured after they found out that Shredder had returned. Has experience in blacksmithing, helping Leonardo in forging new katana blades. He has a pair of roller skates which he is very good at. His favorite book is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. He calls someone younger than himself "baby." Favorite music: Rap, metal, hardcore, punk. His favorite food is cereal.

relationship

Leonardo When Raph was a child, he wanted to be the leader, and sometimes felt jealous of Leo's position. As Raphael grew older, he grew out of his jealousy and accepted the fact that Leo was the leader, respecting it. However, the two are closer than they initially appear. After Leo was nearly beaten to death by the Foot, Raphael was driven to tears by the fear that his brother would die. When Leo recovered, Raphael helped him forge new katanas and served as emotional support, which continued during their next conflict with the Shredder. Donatello Don and Raph get along best. Raphael is usually the first to compliment him on one of his inventions. One of Raph's favorite inventions, which Don invented, is a motorcycle. Michelangelo Raph's relationship with Mikey is the most strained compared to his relationships with his other brothers. Mikey enjoys teasing Raph for his amusement. Mikey is also very cocky and mocks Raph for his accomplishments. However, he is shown to actually care deeply for Mikey, as evidenced by situations where his brother seems to be in danger. When it was revealed that Leatherhead had hurt Mikey, Raph begged his brother to tell them something. Master Splinter Raphael is quite close to his father, but often disagrees with him over the decisions Splinter makes regarding his sons' involvement in the outside world. Splinter bemoans Raphael's short temper, at times attempting to help him. At other times, Splinter scolds Raphael for his anger and impatience. Friends Casey Jones Casey and Raph are close

Back to the Sewer

The Turtles return to their present time, and Raphael is still the grumpy New Yorker he always was. However, there are clear facts in this series that show Casey and Raph are actually best friends. Raphael also helps defeat Cyber Shredder. Raphael is happy to leave the future and return to his own time, but he hates to talk about it. Raphael also seems to be the tallest this season.

fast forward

Raphael was the only one who hated the future. His disappointment was mainly due to the technology used in 2105, which was very advanced.

Ninja Tribunal

Raphael became one of the Acolytes of the Ninja Tribunal along with his brothers. He is the second ninja to focus his spiritual energy through the Acolyte Amulet, and his spiritual avatar is a dragon. Although Raph is sometimes irritated by his brothers, Juto-Shisho thinks that rebelling out of frustration suits him as he boldly steps into the spirit forge and obtains Banrai.

childhood

Raphael was a pet turtle bought by a young boy along with three others, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo. The boy was waiting at a crosswalk when a teenager noticed a blind old man crossing the street as a truck was speeding towards him. The teenager bumped into the boy with the turtles, causing him to drop the can he was keeping them in. The turtles fell into a drain. As the truck swerved away from the scene, the back doors of the car blew open, sending the canister flying out and landing in the drain along with the turtles, covering them in a strange substance. A rat named Splinter was passing by, picked up the turtles, and came into contact with the strange chemical as well. When Splinter woke up the next morning, he found that he and the turtles had grown taller and slightly smarter. Splinter decided it would be wise to teach them ninjutsu, as his master Yoshi had done for him. Raphael and his brothers were taken to Japan by Splinter when they were children to bury Hamato Yoshi's ashes with the remains of Tang Shen. The turtles continually noticed a strange demon, visible to them but invisible to the Ancient One and Splinter. Finally, when the Ancient One went to consult with the Ninja Tribunal, Splinter noticed a strange smell in the air, believing it to belong to the demon the turtles kept seeing, and they secretly followed the Ancient One. The two ninja masters were attacked by the demon, but Don managed to throw a rock at the Amulet, causing it to shatter and reveal the demon. The Ancient One and Splinter quickly killed the demon. The Ninja Tribunal applauded the turtles' efforts, though they destroyed all memories of the journey. The Ancient One gave the turtles bandannas, with Raph receiving a red one. The Tribunal used their connection to nature to distort space and open a portal to the turtles' current lair.

personality

Raphael's personality is similar to his original Mirage counterpart, except he is a bit more sarcastic and grumpy. Although he is impulsive, he is not as violent. When he fought Michelangelo, he almost hit his brother with a trumpet, but Leonardo stopped him in time, and Raph calmed down. Another example was when Raphael was unhappy with Leonardo's decision to participate in a gang war. He even abandoned his brothers when he thought teaming up with Karai and the Foot was a bad idea. After a while, he gave in and realized how impulsive he was being. Raphael in this incarnation is a tough-talking, street smart, no-nonsense New Yorker with a definite outlook on life. He is sarcastic and a bit of a grump. Raphael loves wrestling and boxing and is always ready for a fight. When he gets really angry, he will stop himself and stay calm, sometimes he will start fighting or lose control. Raphael's biggest fear is to lose himself completely in anger and let his temper get the better of him to the point where he loses all other emotions. His aggressive behavior sometimes causes tension with his brothers, especially Michelangelo. However, he loves them all deeply and is more caring when one of them is injured or in serious danger. Raphael is shown to be extremely loyal and is often the first to respond when another of his brothers is in trouble. However, in this incarnation, Raphael is not shy about making mistakes.
