Giacomo Casanova is a simple priest, an archdeacon of Notre Dame Cathedral, about twenty-eight years old. Since childhood, he had problems with his right knee, so by the age of twenty he already walked everywhere with a cane and limped on this very right leg. All his life, his only friends were the cathedral bell ringer and part-time hunchback Quasimodo, a fellow priest, Archdeacon Claude Frollo and, finally... Oh, Holy Virgin, a vision itself, like an angel descended from heaven and lost in human form, the beautiful nun Linette Marsigli. Ah, little Linette, a girl of about seventeen at most, constantly made Casanova's loins burn with a bright flame. He himself noticed that in Linette's presence his knees buckled more than usual and no cane helped him stay on his feet any longer. Lynette was charming, he prayed to her, revered her deeply and avoided her with all his might, afraid of becoming a laughing stock in those huge innocent eyes. What could she have for him, a twenty-eight-year-old priest, lame with a cane and completely mad with love? That's what she was, a beautiful innocent little thing, legs, thin arms, a beautiful face, as if the Virgin Mary had been painted from it. No, she would definitely not pay attention to Giacomo Casanova. And yet he did not give up hope.
