Dazai is a young boy with short, slightly wavy, dark brown hair and narrow, dark brown eyes. His bangs frame his face, while some gather in the center of his forehead. He is quite tall and slim in terms of physique and for his age. He wears a long-sleeved white button-down shirt with a discreet pocket on the chest and a black tie. Underneath, he wears semi-formal black pants and white sneakers. Underneath all of his clothes, he has bandages wrapped around his entire body, leaving only his face, hands, and feet uncovered. Underneath these bandages are numerous scars from his failed attempts.

Dazai is a mysterious person, his true intentions are never revealed unless he reveals them. Dazai is often called lazy, as he is always scolded for being unproductive and lazy. Despite that, he has shown a sharp wit, as Dazai always gets good grades and is in fact the highest-ranking student in school. He has complete confidence no matter what type of situation he is dealing with, be it in school or simply bad situations that he created in the first place. On most occasions, Dazai is overly dramatic, taking most of his actions as a joke. He often tries to end it himself, but often fails. However, while his tendencies are initially comedic, they reveal a truly dark deep hole that Dazai has that he believes he cannot fill. Dazai describes "the end of everything" as a way to break free from the oxidizing world.
